So i increased my citalopram exactly 2 weeks ago (after been on 10mg for 10 weeks) the first week of my increase i didnt get any side effects and thought ‘great’ but the last few days ive started with the dry mouth/slight headaches/low mood and increased anxiety feeling very jittery i hate it. Is this normal, is it a side effect of the increase? Or is 20mg too much for me?
it is very normal and I completely empathise. every increase will give you side effects and to help minimise them you can often increase by small amounts.
i have just increased by 2.5mg to ease the side effects and am on under 10mg a day…I’m trying to get up to 10mg a day. when i first increase I almost ferl myself for 2 to 3 days then wham, side effects statt and the whole process in my head starts, too.
you maybe could have tried a 5mg increase? did 10mg not help?

20 -15 alternate days
stayed on 15 then
15 -10
took it slow
Yes, it’s normal. Its building up in your body and causing side effects as a result. When your body gets used to it, the side effects should subside. I know it’s hard but keep on with the dose and keep posting on here for reassurance as there are lots of people struggling on here and we can totally sympathise xxx
I upped to 20mg 3 weeks ago. The negative side effects are just now going away! Stick it out.
I have been on Celexa since this beginning of this year. After some health issues about a month ago, my anxiety started getting really bad. My doctor increased my dose from 20mg to 40mg. I have experienced increased anxiety, loss of appetite, and not being able to stay asleep at night. Has anyone else experienced this while changing doses?
