Side effects of sertraline

Hi. I’m at start of week 4 on sertraline for anxiety and nervous system dysregulation.

I feel terrible on it. My dose was 25mg but my doctor increased it to 100mg 3 weeks ago. My anxiety is not so bad but the emotional irritation has me wanting to climb out of my skin. I was having slightly calmer evenings but those are gone. I haven’t been taking lorazapan to help me but I think I should.

I don’t do a lot other than lie in bed and stay home.

Any encouraging words?

25mg to 100mg is a massive jump, did you gradually increase? Lots of different experiences on here but after time things do get better. Stay strong.

Unfortunately I didn’t gradually increase. My doctor did not advise me to so it was 25mg one day and then 100mg the next. It was a horrible 5 weeks with low mood, panic, cortisol and adrenaline surges and irritability that was next level awful.

I’m now 5.5 weeks on that dose, I originally miscalculated by a week in my original post. I have nervous system dysregulation from recent trauma and this morning my body did a full discharge of stored stress. It was crazy! Sobbing, convulsions, body jolts. Started yesterday and built up to a peak. Anyone else experienced that?

Hoping the weeks ahead will be better as I reach week 6…
