Side pain

I had an Esophagus scope 3 days ago. I am in excruciating pain on my lower right side. It hurts to breathe and even lay down.  What could it be?

What are the results from your endoscopy procedure?

Hi Michelle,

Have you vomited, and have you passed any black, sticky, foul-smelling stools?

If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then you need to see a doctor immediately, as this could be a sign of internal bleeding. But this would manifest during the first day or so after the procedure, so if you haven't had these symptoms after three days it's definitely not going to be internal bleeding.

It's far more likely that the pain is due to the air that was pumped down during the procedure.

I'd also be interested to know whether you were sedated and whether or not you remember the procedure. People who have endoscopies done under so-called "conscious sedation" often sustain muscle strains.
