Simply Walking app

Hello everyone

Don't know if this has been mentioned before but I downloaded this free app - Simply Walking. It is brilliant - for me - anyway. I use it for my walks outside as it shows you how many steps you have taken, how far you have walked, what speed and how long it has taken and how many calories you have used (based on your weight which is simple to add).

I have found this very motivating.

It shows charts of your progress and a map of your route and you can check previous routes you have taken.

The only thing it doesn't do is add together daily totals if you do more than one walk in a day so I contacted the developer and he is going to include daily, weekly and monthly cumalitive totals to the charts.

It makes me want to go and see how I've improved and today I walked 2.5 miles at 2mph.

I am 3 weeks post right hip replacement and am walking outside with one crutch and inside without at times.

I thought my progress was miniscule until I used this and feel very pleased with myself as I see progression on a daily basis.

I hope others find it reassuring.

sending you all my good wishes for your recovery, whatever stage you are at.

Liz

Thanks Liz - I will look for this as I think it would help me. I get my next hip in two weeks, so it may be another week or two before I can really use it.

Best wishes for a smooth and full recovery.

Hi Liz,

Thanks will try this.

May my walk is another free app to use that does the same thing. I bought a cheap Fitbit prior to surgery to count my steps and have increased my goal every week. Feels good when you reach your goal. I am 9 weeks post op on my right hip replacement
