Pretty much everybody.
yeah. its getting better now but for the first couple of weeks it was rough. im still REALLY tired tho so im pretty sure im still not getting a great deal of quality sleep
Oh yes! I am 7 weeks post THR. I find myself waking every 2 hours. Tried each side and back. Eventually settle down about 4am by sleeping on my back with a memory foam pillow under lower legs. Heels still hurt if rested on mattress. Then up at 7 to get ready for work. Hoping it will get better in coming weeks. Pleased to know not just me.
Yes that's me since 2011. Had drug review yesterday now that I am 10 weeks post hip. Off all pain killers and been given a 4 week course of sleep tablets to try and break the habit. Keeping fingers crossed tonight
Think most hippies get back to normal once sleeping in a normal position
Be patient and cat nap when you can
Slept very little first couple of weeks. Now at nearly 5 wks I manage about 3 hours for the first session then doze on and off 1-2 hours at a time.
I take less pain killers in the day now but do take them before going to bed as it helps me get comfortable so I can get to sleep and then I will take them early morning especially if I'm getting uncomortable, achy and stiff, as I can then get some more hours in.
I am only week 1 post LTHR and yes I'm the same, two hours here two hours there but I find it lovely to lie and listen to the birdsong at 4.00am. I do however take myself to bed in the afternoon and have a proper restful sleep of 1-1.5 hours. I think that keeps me going. I am hoping that it gets better. I do find it difficult to doze in the chair.
Hello Gill good to see you are still cheerful. Wish I cod give hippies hope on the sleep issue but I am in a very bad habit now but GP hopes to break it this week with the help of sleeping pills. Hate having to resort to them but not on any pain killers now so not bombarding the body so much
Enjoy your 2 hour slots xx
Hi Sheila,
I guess I am in the minority. My pain pills and amitriptyline, (used only for its drowsy effect), helped me sleep through the whole night. And I was grateful for that.
Sorry you are suffering like this and hope it improves soon for you.
Hugs

I am cheerful today, I can't see any point in being anything else, but I do have a lovely partner who sees the positives if I feel a little down so that helps a lot. Tonight I have been for a walk down the drive but using my crutches as sticks and walking normally instead of one step at a time. So feeling really pleased with myself
I do hope Ann that your gp can break your habit, it's surprising how quickly it happens. How are you doing anyway other that that? getting there along with the rest of us? I hope so anyway xx
My hubby suffers with restless leg syndrome due to his disability of cat he is registered disabled and manages to do most things for me, sometimes it's so annoying because he also gets frustrated and his condition causes him to be tired all the time and of course I never sleep right through I normally get up to go to the loo 3 times a night due to being diabetic as well
Hello again Gill hip wise doing well at 10 weeks post. Walked six and a half miles yesterday. Today had to to transport friend for her cataract and stay with her for 4 hours so no walk. Involved in a photographic exhibition from tomorrow till next Thursday so will be difficult to get long walks in. I am virtually pain free unless I over do things. Next check up September and bone scan November so hoping to be medic free till then. If sleepers do not knock me out I will change my teetotal ways and take up drinking
Keep smiling and improving
Also I can't sleep in a different room because we don't have a spare bed though I do have a 3 seater leather couch or my chair is a recliner one I could use that if I am really desperate but haven't got that far yet my kindle and a hot drink normally helps me and a hot drink for him
Very typical Sheila expecially in the early weeks of recovery. I was just like you and could not even sleep in my bed. I slept in the recliner in the living room being I was constantly up and moving around. It does get better. I finally around week 5 was able to sleep in bed, not all night, but 5-6 hours of solid sleep was heavenly
My husband told me not to watch the shopping tv shows lol.
Sarah my heels are so very painful and stop me sleeping. I've just managed 90 minutes, and my left foot (had left thr 3 weeks ago) is now off the edge of the bed, and right foot tisted to the side.
I bought a nice fleece thing which didn't help n
My backside is painful too...
my hip, however, seems to be doing well, so fae
I have ben sleeping badly for many months. The pain of moving would wake me up before thr and still does.
I realised that I wasn't alone when i posted a question on here at 2.30am and had an immediate reply.
My Mother used to tell me that as long as I was resting it was almost as good as sleep.
Best wishes.
Susan, you are too funny! Your husband is spot on though right? If I am laid up, cannot sleep and have to find a way to pass my time, the shopping networks would have an easy target with me! Ha!
💛 Dawn, USA,
good morning everybody ... I wonder why we sleep so poorly after THR - vicious circle for me, really - going often to the bathroom in the beginning of course didn't help and kept me awake from worrying about it - getting in- and out of bed (I live alone) and will I make it in time - I am up = out of bed at 5-ish - tired by midmorning and nap on the couch ... and so on .... it is getting a bit better now that I can get out and drive - my GP is reluctant to prescribe any sleeping pills -
yawn .....
