Hi,
Bit concerned that on day 10 had a slight bleed on dressing after exercises. No further bleed just a bit of condensation over leakage now. Dressing due to be changed for the first time in three days. Bit concerned as this didn't happen with my first knee replacement six months ago. Bit concerned as I would hate to get an infection. Has this happened to anybody else?
There are many factors in tkr which affect the recovery process , it is unusual for two tkr ops to have exactly the same result . My first op was fine but with the second my leg turned black and blue from toes to top of the leg , fortunatly it didn't affect my recovery . It's now 19½ and 17½ years since , and I have had no problems . On day 10 the wound has not healed , ask when you have the dressing changed , I think you will find it's nothing to worry about .
8 days post op I took off the waterproof dressing and saw I'd had an allergic reaction to the incision glue which left the incision raw and ugly-photo on right. I was really concerned about infection too but sent photo to doctor and was told to keep it lightly covered with a gauze bandage, not to get site wet and 10 days later the incision cleared up-photo on left. There is one dark spot through which three absorbable sutures rose to the top of my skin and came out. The body has an amazing ability to heal, eat healthy food, drink good water, rest, moderate exercise and be patient. Be aware of symptoms of infection and notify doctor. Each surgery is different. Best Wishes....
Oops, photos were reversed by website!
Don't worry a little bleeds ok Mine bled a week bit after staples taken out just replaced dressing for a few days and after that I used E45 cream and massaged wound morning and night x
Aaah! That allergic reaction looks gross! Glad it looks fine now!
Oh thank u that makes me feel a whole lot better xx
Thank you so glad that my two ops are over, finding this last one a bit more difficult, still early days for me I know, roll on six months time.x
Have you discusssed this with a dr? I would ring the111 service to get to speak to n Out of Hours Doctor. Is your temperature normal? Any swelling or redness in your knee/wound?
If you're concerned about infection check your temp to see if your temp is normal and also see your doctor and ask him to run all your bloods and to check your inflammation markers.
Get it looked. Probably nothing to worry about but your peace of mind is worth a call to your surgeon.
