So overweight - so unhappy

Hi all,
So, i am going to tell it as it is!
I am 51 years old, barely 5ft and nearly 14 stone, peri-menopausal, fat, tired, have high blood pressure and cannot be bothered, i feel so unhappy.
Everytime i think this is it - diet and exercise, i reach for a chocolate bar and just sit down, within minutes i can be asleep!
I know i need to find the energy, motivation and help myself, i want to see the weight come off quickly but i really do not know where to start.
Anyone else in or been in the same situation and able to get me on track?
Thank you in advance.
I want to see the weight come off quickly

Hi,
Have you consulted your Dr about this?
You may come within the guidance to have the new weight loss injections.
If you don’t qualify for the new injections, request some blood tests to see if you have any underlying cause of your tiredness and high blood pressure.
I can offer guidance with exercise and nutrition but please get a check up first
Let me know how you get on

Hi

Have spoken to doctor and have had blood tests and a ct scan but nothing is coming to light. Not eligible for the weight loss injection. So i think the way im feeling must all be down to diet and exercise but when you cant even climb a flight of stairs without becoming breathless what chance is there of exercising?!
Any help will be appreciated.

Why not fast for a week? Drink only water, consume no food. The myth that fasting is bad for us is a lie to condition people to eat more (food sells, fasting doesn’t). Humans are not meant to be eating as often as we eat these days. Our entire history for the most part has not had food so readily available. Fasting allows your body to repair faster/better because it does not have to exert energy in order to metabolize food, etc. You’ll lose weight too! This is the easiest way to lose weight, plus you get the benefit of added healing prowess.

Hi,
Did you tell the dr of your breathlessness just while climbing the stairs? The dr may perform a peak flow check, this determines how good your breathing is.
In the meantime, would you mind sending me a week of your food and drink diary please? I can analyse it and form a plan for you.
Also, you could try and start walking, if you haven’t already, that is a simple start of a exercise plan.
Take care, I will support you to improve your health.
Best regards
Steven

Hi, I know just how you feel and no one understands unless they’ve been through it or going through it. I’m over weight too and I need to lose 5 stone. I’m 5"7 and weigh 16stone. It’s so hard to get motivated. Our son bought us a peddle machine where we can sit on a chair or sofa and peddle. It’s been sitting in our living room since Christmas, but I just started to use it this week and it really gets the heart pumping and tires out the legs. With me, I always start things but never carry them on, so I’m trying to be postive to use it regularly. My gp referred me for weight management so waiting to hear from them. When I was young, I would exercise and the weight would fall off quickly but now being in my 50’s it’s so much harder to lose weight.
I do hope you’re able to muster up some motivation even if it’s just walking for 10mins a day. But I do get it, even getting the motivation to do that can be hard.

Mounjaro has been my life saver, since May the 21st I have lost 1½ stone and feel amazing. I have high blood pressure and cholesterol. I highly recommend it. I buy mine, yes its expensive but worth every penny when you see the weight drop off.

I lost 3 stone in a year. Well I thought I had lost that and I was surprised that the GP said I had actually lost 4 stone. Then I plateued since last Summer which was a bit annoying despite my achievement.

How I lost weight was plenty of walking and swimming. Exercise almost every day. In addition this year I took up bowling and back to taichi classes. Recently I have moved from my plateau and lost more weight. Of course, diet had to be considered - I band crisps which had been my downfall for about 20 years - used to eat them every day.

To keep up the walking I took part in Active challenge in June and currently Million Steps challenge - third time doing them both. So set yourself challenges - these definitely help.

I am open to anything! Although just drinking water, doesnt that leave you feeling more lethargic?

Hi. Yes the doctor does know about the breathlessness but has never suggested the need for a peak flow check. I will send to you my weekly food and drink intake…Thank you

Thank you for your support, this sounds like me very much. It’s making time i struggle with, there’s always an excuse not to! I tried to get the GP to refer me to the Olivia Weight Management Plan but they just ignored it!

Hi. Swimming has been recommended to me by my GP. I have thought about the Couch to 5K, but thinking is as far as it’s gone! Havent heard of the Active Challenge.

I have thought about this but its the cost. Where have you found the cheapest place to get it from please?

Steven, trying to see how to private message you?

I buy mine from MedExpress. I apparently had a £40 voucher from a friend who’d previously bought it. I also have £40 off for a friend to use if you are interested.
I know its expensive but it has been worth every penny.

Hi guys Ive been where you ard now and its difficult but you can do it.
Try planning meals dont wait until your hungry and then grab anything. Think about the things you like and find a healthier choice. Im not going to make suggestions as to what you should eat because theres plenty of that out there. Im veggie but for a while I was a “big” vegetarian
If you like fish you’re onto a winner - not just fried fish. Potatoes don’t need to be covered in fat. Eat as much vegetable as you like, any vegetable. Its truly about mondset not just wanting to do it but finding a reason. Good health is a big motivator, do it for You
Exercise needn’t be a drama just a few steps. Find a decent place to walk? Relax and enjoy it. I have many complex health issues so for me its maintaining my life and mobility as we age we realise how important that is. Im not perfect in any manner but I don’t believe in weight
Loss medication - its like botox - we dont know what they do to us. Good luck, sending love, dont be hard on yourself you’re only human.Good luck. Sending love  xx

Hi,
This community forum used to have a way where you could private message people, but I don’t see it at the moment.

Hi,
Just checking in with you to see how you are today.
I know you get out of breath climbing the stairs, so it’s good to start with some walking on the level first.
Do you have any conditions affecting your joints at all?
If you can get a peak flow meter, then you can see at a glance the strength of your breath. In an ideal world if you can blow 600, that’s pretty good, but don’t worry if it’s quite low, this is what we are trying to improve.
So try to increase your walking and that’s a good place to start. Before we move on to some resistance training. The key is to listen to your body, don’t try to do too much too soon.
Take care
Steven

Hi Steven

Feeling so tired :slightly_frowning_face:
No conditions affecting my joints, my knees ache at times but that is due to the weight!
The mindset i need to have is every little helps, i tend to want to see instant results or else i think nothing is working, getting my head around that is very difficult!
