¡Tan cansado!

Two weeks today since THR and recovery so far has been great. Haven't had any real problems at all...but.. Today, gosh, I can barely put one foot in front of other. Seem beyond tired, more like complete exhaustion! Haven't been outside at all yet but doing day to day things , cooking , dusting, washing etc .

eating well and healthily , sleeping well etc.

is this normal .? Hope so ! X

Only two weeks and you sound like you're doing great.  Sure you'll get much more detailed advice on this site than mine as I think tiredness is quite common but if your body says you should take it easy and you're not in pain, then just enjoy taking it easy.  After all you're body has been through why push it?

¡Mucha suerte!

Hi Carol

I had RTHR 5 weeks ago at first I would say totally exhausted once the afternoon hit. Just let yourself relax and take a nap. I used to do my exercises and anything else I needed to do in the morning have my protein shake take a book read and fall asleep for a couple of hours . Worked wonders.

Take it as your body let's you.

Dear Carol

I agree with you. Ease up and if Carol has stopped using crutches best to go back to them and slowly start reducing dependence on them. Lots of feet elevated time and ice if that helps.

My hip revision at 75 has made me take a less pushy course than when I had my primary replacement at 65!

Just got home from a 1.5 mile walk with quite a lot of up and down hill sections to really work my muscles! Used one crutch part of the way to ensure I was walking well and with a good length of stride.

All the best everyone.

Cheers Richard

How lovely that you all take the time to reply. Thank you. It's reassuring to know it's quite normal to have the tiredness. It has been amazing that the hip pain went and I feel I want to be out and about doing things. I napped quite a lot today. It's been very hot though and that's tiring.

Take care all of you . X

hi carol,

2 weeks is still early in recovery from this major invasive surgery ..

not only physically, but also mentally, emotionally and spiriually ..your body and mind are healing, repairing and processing and that takes a lot of energy on all levels -- healing is taking place when in rest - so darling, surrender to it .. your exefcises, day to day things , short  walks are plenty for now -

be gentle with your self

big warm hug

renee

Hi Carol,

You are doing an awful lot so close to having major surgery.  The exhaustion is your body telling you to rest more.  Having a THR takes a lot out of a person and it can take months before we are able to do simple everyday tasks without getting tired.

Take this time to rest as much as possible.  As your body heals, you will be able to do more.  Best wishes as you continue to recover!
