Sober 2 years now 💓

The 26th of March marks my 2 years sober. It was a tough year with the unexpected suicide of my ex but I find in general I never think of drinking and can go out to parties or have people over and drink and don’t mind at all. I don’t need it anymore but wish I would have seen a documentary that I had just watched much earlier in my recovery. It helped me understand that breaking away from an addiction causes the brain to feel anxious and stressed and that it can take a very long time to fix. Now at least I understand why I can’t handle certain things the same way anymore. :slightly_smiling_face:

Treated myself to a present (beautiful gold and opal bracelet)

So happy to hear you are 2 years sober, that is a big accomplishment! the most ive gone without drinking is 3 months, but then I relapse or even if i dont get drunk i do try one or 2 drinks. Would you mind telling me what documentary you watched? whats the name? I am also studying mt degree in Psychology and we are learning about addictions and how it affects the brain in a biological way, so I think this documentary could give me lots of insight on this topic.

Thank you and wish you all the best and happiness on your path of recovery. xx

Thanks 🙂. Three months is a good start. The documentary is called "Addiction" from the passionate Eye a Canadian CBC production

Well done you! I cant imagine 2 years yet.

Also try reading ' Tired of thinking about Drinking ' by Belle Robertson ( 100 days sober)

Thank you so much! ☺ i will check both of them out. Xx

and Annie Graces 30 day AF experiment on line and her book the naked mind. I'm only on day 53 but its the longest period since aged 17 as a result of this site and that resource

Wow that's amazing! Keep it up!!! 🎉🎉🎉

thanks so much for sharing, kind of you. dark days for me, you inspire though, thank you for that. brightness.

Great achievement 30 days sober😄 soon 2 or 3 months...

You are totally amazing😁 for certain a strong person as well considering your setbacks... Give yourself some more treats. You can afford it with the money saved after 2 year sober.. I certainly saved a lot after 6 years sober. I sometimes walk down the wine aisle in Tesco just for fun! Also because i know that it is poison to me! One drink would lead to another one and another one etc. etc.

Hi Smile, Just to send you many congratulations on your 2 year anniversary. That is really brilliant news. Keep up the good work and yes, you really deserve that lovely sounding bracelet!! Well Done. Best wishes Claire xxx
