Son exhausted from conference & flights back to Midwest

From door-to-door, travel took 13+ hours. I worried & couldn't get back to sleep when I didn't get a planned text at his 4am Seattle arrival, but was relieved to hear from him 4 hours later.

He checked in a huge case & small duffel, so we requested wheelchair assistance at curbside in Honolulu. They help him through TSA, & wheel him to the gate. At his final destination, the terminal is HUGE & the distance unreal. They wheel him from the door of the plane to the baggage claim then to ground transport. Easy if there's a golf cart available but ridiculous if it's a wheelchair & a case to maneuver. They earn their tips! Delta is SUPERB as far as assistance. And son has learned to accept help when he needs it. When he doesn't, he'll feel frustrated, exhausted & angry.

Tomorrow he sees his GP for a plan of action & an x-ray of the right, deteriorating AVN hip. Also to try to get answers & help with the ongoing tiredness & waterfall sweating. The following week he sees the surgeon who operated on his left hip for a 3-month check. He is hoping to have RTHR as soon as possible. If this surgeon won't do it, the GP will help him get a second opinion. Or we might attempt to pay for it out of pocket.

I'll be here in Hawaii for 3 more weeks, then I return to join my son, as he's asked me for help in making this happen.

Mahalo for listening. This is certainly a journey, & It continues. I learn so much from all of you here about determination, persistence, courage, kindness & support for each other.

Aloha, Soos

aloha soos,

that was fast ... I thought he would be home for a little bit longer -

it sounds as if he is ready to take on the 2nd THR -

airport assistance is great , especially when they whisk you through check-in lines, TSA , customs -

I hope you will be able to relax more and enjoy being at home before you go back to the Midwest -

there is so much love out here ...

big warm hug

renee

Mahalo Miss Aloha Hippy Renee! Hope you are having a good day. Time for me to turn in.

Aloha Soos,

This plans sounds very good, but I sincerely hope it does get to the point where you have to pay for it privately.

I am very impressed that your son asked for your help ... you must have had a good dinner and talk together at the conference.

I hope this doesn't wear you out completely though - book time for yourself including some spa time if at all possible.

You are a super mother to support him so much.

Hugs, hugs, hugs to you and wishing your son a supportive health team and decisions going forward.

Aloha Linda

Thank you for your kind words. I can get the money but I'd have to liquidate something. It's not ideal.

One of the first things I did when I got here was get a haircut & pedicure. My hair tech said (in a more polite way) "what did they do to your hair?" lol. It will be one of the last things too - another pedicure & bangs trimmed.

And the older I get, the more maintenance I need. My knee is making a horrible crunching sound - I'll see the physical therapist Friday. If she makes me squat, I will die! Then I'll have lunch with a dear friend.

Another sweet friend who mailed me a gift of Girls Day goodies while I was away has organized a dinner for a few of us - perfect timing! Most of them know I've been away helping son.

Linda, mahalo for listening & for your good advice.

Aloha, Soos
