Soo I'm new to this

I've been informed that I have HSV2. When I was told it broke my heart I cried the whole entire day. I told my partner that I've been with for over a year now. We talked, we cried, we both accepted it. It's just hard trying not to think about it because I never would have known if I wouldn't have gotten my blood drawn and tested. My doctor asked me did I want to get the medication I was just sooo lost for words I told her I'll call her to let her know what should I do?

If you've never had an outbreak, have a history of cold sores (or are positive for HSV1, regardless of symptoms or not), and scored low for HSV2 using the HerpeSelect IgG test, then there's a chance that it's a false positive. How exactly were you tested and what did you score?

What is a low test ?? I figured if you get diagnose with it . That you have it somewhere in your system ..

but . None of it is making sense for me because I got diagnosed with it .. me and my ex been messing around for a longgg time since I got diagnosed with herpes (December 2015) and he just got his blood work back and he is clear of all of it & we even had sex during my first outbreak . So confused

The HerpeSelect IgG test can, in some instances, produce false positives. Usually in those with pre-existing HSV1, regardless of symptoms or not. The lower the positive index value for HSV2 in such instances, the greater the chance that positive is false. Of course, a positive swab makes all of this moot, as that always takes precedence.
