Still hoping .....

Hello everyone , never posted on a site like this before . But need to hear I'm not alone with how I'm feeling . I've just recently restarted 10 mg of fluoxetine for a week and today took 20 mg . Still feeling kinda off , I tried 20 mg Monday felt pretty good but started feeling really dizzy come bedtime . But due to feeling still off I tried again today . I'm also on .5mg of xanax when needed but would love to get off those . But find the they work quicker and take that panic feeling away faster. Way more relaxed . At the most I have taken .5 mg 3 times a day . Mostly for sleeping as well ,that's when I can fallasleeep and stay alsleep . I keep waking up every 2 hrs now .

I have no side affects from the xanax however the fluoxetine I find I have to pee constantly and have a weird bladder feeling . I don't remember feeling that when I was on this years ago .

Anyone else ?

Hi Erin,

I also have severe side effects from fluoxetine even though I hardly had any when I took it years ago. Very different this time. Like with you, my sleep is affected, the first 3 weeks I was waking up eveyr 2 hours with anxiety shivers. Now at 4 weeks I tend to wake up maybe once or twice, so slightly better. The dizziness and headaches are there too, again a little less over the weeks but still there.

Reading the forums on here has helped me a lot to see that I am not alone with this. But what most people say is to not fiddle around with the doses and stay on the same. Fluoxetine is long term effect medication, the brain and body are adjusting to the new levels of serotonin, and changing the doses can mess up the side effects even more. Stick either with 10mg or 20mg, do not change the dose, and give it at least a month to see some positive effects...

Best wishes

Luci
