Distensão abdominal

Wondering if anyone has been having similar symptoms as me, resulting from a similar GI track injury. Hoping together we can put the pieces of the puzzle together and solve this, since 6 years of medical tests have left me without answers to the source of my chronic stomach distension. It started one night when I was eating laying down in bed flat on my stomach. I immediately felt a burn and swelling in throat like something wasn't right. The next morning I woke up and noticed swelling/distension around my stomach, almost like a baby bump. That swelling never went away and remains to this day. In addition, there was a constant reflux of acid in my throat that continues to this day. I went to a gastroenterologist who performed pretty much every test under the sun, as well as certain diets to rule out food and allergens as the source of the stomach distension. The endoscopy showed gastritis and esophagitis, which healed after about a year and haven't shown up on subsequent endoscopies since. However, it wasn't until years later after my doctor performed a PH study because PPI's were ineffecfive in resolving my reflux, that it was found that I most likely injured my esophagus by eating laying down and that the muscles in it are not opening and closing properly, allowing acid to escape and reflux constantly. I was told it will most likely require lapriscopic stomach surgery to repair. Not a great finding - but at least we were finally figuring things out. But the stomach distension/swelling is the part of it that still has not been figured out. To be honest, I don't have a lot of faith in the way that the doctors are going about trying to figure it out. They keep prescribing tests, which only serve to cross things off the list, but the tests aren't well thought out before being prescribed. Most of the things they are looking into have nothing to do with the injury that caused my symptoms. I know my stomach distension stems from the GI track injury I sustained from eating while laying on my stomach. That is when the onset of the symptoms occurred and all the other parts of my symptoms that have been figured out are related to that injury, so I know the stomach distension should be too. If anybody out there sustained a similar injury and has similar symptoms, I feel like we have a better shot at sharing our findings and helping each other figure this out than solely relying on the medical system. Please let me know if anyone has information that could help, similar symptoms and/or sustained a similar injury and I will continue to share my findings with you as well as I continue the medical detective work process. Hopefully, we can help each other figure this out, get well, and get our quality of life back.
