Strange body sensations

I have been having feelings like a burning/wave type sensation in chest and lower abdomen that reaches right down under, any ideas what is happening? it's very uncomfortable.

I was driving home from work one day and all of the sudden I felt a very warm sensation that did feel like a wave that went across my chest and then down my stomach and actually went all the way to my female parts.  I thought I was bleeding internally and it caused my BP to go up and I pulled over and stopped at the nearest location which was a bank.  Since I had just had a procedure on my heart a few months earlier I was taken to the ER.  I had been having some anxiety attacks prior but nothing on this level of physical sensation.

throughout the night in the ER I was having waves of it and then it would go away and then return.  They didn't find anything wrong with me, but I did reach out on this web site and other people started responding that they have had those sensations as well and it really helped me.

I was practicing the CBT techniques to help with anxiety and when I would start feeling a slight warm wave coming, I would simply say right to the wave in my chest or arms - "you are not real" or "you can't hurt me".  It took about a week and I haven't had it since.  It truly is something and our minds our powerful enough to cause it and stop it.

I hope you feel better.

Wow that is amazing... I am seeing my therapist tomorrow. So, it's not that my nerves are shot necessarily! I love what you just said thanks so much for replying

Thanks so much for replying. That's so helpful. I am seeing my therapist tomorrow. I will too practise CBT. I really thought my nerves must be shot! It's good to know it's in our control xx

I was hoping I could help because someone really helped me that night.  That was 2 years ago and I haven't had it since.  It might be a stress reaction from your nerves being shot.  Who knows with these things.

Ah that's such a good testimony, it encourages me that all is not lost!

Anxiety it’s a mind thing and I gtvthe same feeling I jut lay down and relax and drink tea .. try some yoga and let me know how it turns out ..

You are not alone!  I also have developed this burning sensation in my chest/stomach- that I’ve described  as feeling like a “furnace”.

I’m sorry your experiencing this, and I wish I could turn the feeling off- for both of us.  My therapist says it’s a part of anxiety for me and so for now, I am trying to commit to more mindfulness practices like meditation but it’s not like flipping a switch.  I hope this doesn’t discourage you, but just know you’re not alone.
