Stressing HIV symptoms

I had. unprotected sex and 1- 2 weeks later I had a discharge. I went for testing and they said that the discharge was a bunch of white blood cells. and I had Cervicitis. I took antibiotics until my results come back but I’ve been having dry cough and an upset stomach (I don’t poop everyday but I feel like I have to) headaches, and I just feel sick. But I feel like I’m just stressing myself out. And they said that the high wbc count means Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. Please help me.

The symptoms are not similar to hiv ars, but if you had unprotected sex with an unknown situation guy, do a test after 28 days and talk about your sexual activity with your doctor.

Thank you !

What are the symptoms?

I strongly suggest that do not look up for symptoms because hiv does not diagnosed base on symptoms and googling symptoms makes you anxious.

A dry cough, dry mouth and upset stomach are pretty common anxiety symptoms if it helps. I had them so I know.. I was so stressed that every time I tried talking I would start coughing.

If you are extremely stressed, this is likely creating the issues you are describing, not an HIV infection. Just try to wait for the test results and you will likely be okay.

Thank you ! The results came back negative. I’m still having upset stomach for some odd reason I was thinking maybe it was too soon but I’m gonna test again soon! & yea I’m pretty anxious so I know I’m stressing

I am happy that your results came back negative.

Regarding your timetable, for HIV, the main test used here is the antigen-antibody (4th generation), which is almost always positive (96-98%) by 4 weeks. It can pick up an infection in 14 days though. Most medical providers recommend 6 weeks after exposure for absolutely conclusive results.

Best of luck.

I went for a 2 month test/ check up it was negative. Should I test again at 3 months ?

As someone who has gone through this, I can tell you that stress/anxiety can create symptoms. The mind is powerful. Today I got my blood test results back and my cervical screening results back and can confidently say I do not have HIV or any other STD/STI. It was all in my head.

i would say, discuss with your health provider at this point, but based on all that i know about testing you should be in the clear (unless you had a recent exposure). you are outside of 6 weeks and most health providers indicate that 6 weeks is conclusive, if you used the 4th gen test.
