Lutando para fazer xixi nas primeiras horas

I have bhp and the last couple of nights around 2am I have needed a wee urgently. When I get to the toilet I have to push my wee out and it comes out very slowly like a dribble. I am on medication, is this normal?

Hi Darren. I have suffered with the condition for many years. I take Doxocasin for my

water works and high blood pressure. I would be interested to know what meds you take?

If you are having problems voiding, I would arrange to see your doc. as it could be

a multitude of conditions.

I myself are having problems and have arranged to see my doc. I have started having

problems having to wait to start to pee and a feeling of not emptying my bladder.

I have had cystostopy and ultrasound years ago and I have an enlarged prostate.

Unfortunately it appears I will have to go through unenviable testing again.

I have cut out coffee and alcohol to try and ease the problem and drink plenty

of water through the day but no liquid after 7 p.m. prior to bedtime, stops me getting

up through the night. Hope things get sorted, tell me how you get on.

If the Doctor you consult is any good s/he will be able to talk to you about PAE (Prostate Artery Embolisation). If they know nothing about it, find another Doctor.

Hi graham. I am on tamulosin for about 4 months now, they do work, this problem only happens very occasionally. I am 50 years old and was diagnosed with large prostate about a year ago. I take the occasional ibroprophen at night some times which helps.

Hi Darren, I have been taking Doxosasin for a few years now pretty much

kept things in check until recently. I recently retired at 62, a life choice. I don't know if a lot is physiological, as I am not physically doing things, as my job was physical and kept my mind away from things. I would maybe pop into the docs. He may refer you for tests at the hospital or fine tune

your medication. For the time being, I think it's recommended that you

drink plenty of water through the day but trim it right back before bed time.

im off the coffee and booze and not taking in any fluids after 7 p.m.

It has helped me not getting up through the night. Are you a U.K. citizen?

I know it can be a problem getting to see a specialist but as I say your doc

may refer you. You haven't been on the tablets very long so it would be prudent to get some proffesional advice.

Thanks for your comments grahem. I have been under a specialist for about a year. Had all the tests including bladder check, scans etc etc. I was told I have a prostate the size of a 75 year old (only 50). My specialist also told me in the states they are allowed to take tamulosen 2 times a day. I am thinking about doing this as a trial to see if it helps. I don't drink alcohol very much but I do like a G&T. I am wondering if this does not help.

Hi pepasan. Thanks for your reply. I have started taking the tablet around dinner time which has helped, I am considering taking 2 tabs a day to do a trial to see if it helps go through the night. they are allowed to take 2x400mg in the states a day.  Not sure if anyone else take ibroprophen 400mg at night before bed I have taken this occasionally and it has got me through the night without waking up.

I wish you all the best Darren. I'm sure with the treatments that are developing you may get a little relief. I know, it is a bit of a nightmare

seems to creep up on you and are conscious of it all the time.

@Darren:  Not sure if anyone else take ibroprophen 400mg at night before bed I have taken this occasionally and it has got me through the night without waking up. ----------------------------------

Ibroprophen can cut both ways. Yes, it help you "get through the night" but it can also cause retention as well as the difficult urination you are describing. I would stop Ibroprophen and do an inventory of all meds -- rx and OTC -- as long as you are having difficulty urinating.

As mentioned before, what you are describing could very well be a natural progression of BPH/LUTS. Besides monitoring and modifying lifestyle choices -- coffee, alcohol, drugs, fluid intake -- next step are the drugs. Be careful with your blood pressure if you go to 2x/day. You might also look into Daily Cialis which can do the same without retro ejaculation, if that's an issue.

That said, any sudden change like you mention, should be investigated right away, so I'd try and make an appointment with my uroloigst ASAP and get both tested for a UTI as well as a current bladder scan.

Self catherization has been mentioned as an option, one I wish I had been offered many years ago when I had similar symptons to yours. Not only will it clear up all your bph/luts sympton right away without drugs, it will protect both your kidneys and bladder better than drugs and without the side effects and risks of a surgery. It will also give you time to look into and evaluate surgical options, or wait for better ones, because at some point the drugs generally stop working.

Jim

Hi Darren, you need to stop pushing if you want to stop damaging both your bladder and kidneys I was told that by a urologist, you need to see an experienced urologist and they will do an ultra sound to see whats going on unless its your medication doing some strange stuff.

Darren do your internet homework on drugs such as tamsulosin and realise specialists like urologists etc do not tell you the side affects!

Thanks for your comments John. I am under a good urologist and saw him every 3 months now see him every 6 months. This not being able to wee properly the last few nights are very rare. I have taken aboard everyone's comments and opinions which have been fantastic and have come to a conclusion the last few nights I have drank alcohol and have steak for my dinner two nights ago and have ben eating more red meat than normal the last week. At the moment I am being monitored and I know I will need some sort of operation as I get older.

Someone mentioned about pushing when I wee which does not help my bladder or kidneys, I will now stop this.  I will also look into some internet research and see what I think the best treatment is for me going forward. I have made a decision to change my life style this week, started the gym and I only drink decaf tea. Hate coffee. Thank you all for your oppinions and if anyone has any help going forward I would be very grateful.

Oi.
