Swelling in the legs.

Does anyone get swelling in the  legs ???? I have one leg that swells from the knee down to the ankle. My Dr. has seen it and does't seem to be concerned but I wish it would go away. Any answers out there????

Yes, I did though it was more my ankles but I also needed at least a size bigger shoe for a long time! I always sat with my feet up but it didn't seem to help a lot. In the end the most effective thing I tried was manual lymph drainage! The physio started by doing the worse leg and within a week both had reduced in size a lot and were almost back to normal.

Yes I have swollen knees most of the time. Dr thinks is part of bodies 'normal' response to inflammatory condition.

Hope you aren't too sore with it?

I tend to get swelling in the lower leg and feet. Steroids do cause fluid retention which is possibly the cause.

I have swelling from knees down and my one legis worse than the other. It swells so much and the pain is awful. I can hardly walk anymore without support. I stay with my feet elevated most of the time. My shoes have gone from a 7 narrow to an 8 1/2 wide. I need kneesurgery but cannot have it as i am allergic to so many antibiotics that the doctors are afraid if i get an infection i could be in big trouble with nothing to treat it. So i am praying for a miracle . Good luck with you legs.... I oray you dont have much pain.....

I am so sorry you have pain in your legs bad enough you have pain from PMR you don't need leg pain I will put you on my pray for list as for myself I don't have too much pain just aching this disease is a b----

Yes Teri I also have swelling in the legs. Some days one is worse than the other, then the other seems worse.  Whichever one is more swollen I notice my corresponding knee is stiffer and aches while in bed at night.  Very strange - I also have shoulder pain one day the right is really bad the next the left.  It is probably just the pmr doing its nasty little thing

When one shoulder hurts you probably rest it and use the other more - so the next day IT hurts. Rinse and repeat...

Yes Teri.  Initially I had very bad swelling of the hands, arms and knees and slight swelling of the ankles.  15 months on, one ankle is still slightly swollen all the time and my hands/knees randomly swell, usually when I've physically over-done things a bit!  I find gently keeping moving helps.
