Is it just me or have others had experience where symptoms (on meds) are well under control at night. I may be watching TV or reading. Get tired and begin to fall asleep and the RLS symptoms just go crazy. I'm convinced there is some mechanism in the brain that is triggered just as I begin to fall asleep that sets off the RLS. I can be lying in bed for a couple of hours, the symptoms are fine (after taking meds) but as soon as I get tired and close my eyes to sleep - wham the pain, jumping, etc. takes hold. Just wondering if this is just me or if it is something others have experienced.
What meds and doses are you on. Can you describe the pain as it is not normally assocoated with RLS.
With me it is as I try to fall asleep. I get what I describe as spasms so can just lie on my back until I fall asleep. This morning after an unsettled night the spasms came back as I tried to dose. I disagree about the pain as I get loads of it in my thighs and calf muscles.
Bad diagnosis, PLMD maybe but not RLS. Suggest see a specialist.s
Hi
the diagnosis of RLS is from a Professor of Neurology at the Institute of Neurology. His specialism is movement disorders.
I have experienced this same crap, I hate it.I can be just enjoying my self sitting inmy favorite chair, then I might think one second of a let thought, and wham...my legs can not be still, so I began tapping my feet, swinging my feet back and forth sideways to stop it, which it doesn't so I take a 1/2 does of the pill, the ropinirole . Also I do not have much pain, just the fact of not keeping my legs still, I can be driving in my car, and possibly have to park some where an sit in my car of a minute, and they will start up, so I be jumping my legs and furious, while sitting there in my seat
I usually get this when I need an increase in my Rx or if I have waited too long to take my medicine .
For me, it's mostly when I sit for a long time but it's minor. If i don't go right to sleep within 30 min. My RLS really kicks in. At that point I just don't bother sleeping. I noticed my past two instances were really bad. I recently bought Sqwincher pops. They are mainly used for hydration, you been in the heat etc. But for me, they calmed my legs so I can sleep. It's such a relief. I think it may be the potassium? 13mg.? All I know is that it works for me.
