I have been taking 20 mg Escitalopram for about 18 months. It has been very effective in helping with depression, I cannot dispute that what so ever. Since taking it though, I've a lot of dizziness and even passing out. the trouble is, we don't know if it is a side effect or something else, but lots of hospital tests on heart etc are all OK.
Anyway, I'm now (a few days ago) starting to phase down the dose of Escitalopram and have started taking Mirtazapine. I take 15 mg at night and sleep like a new born - it's amazing.
Does anyone else take this sort of combination?
In the past I tried Sertraline (could not sleep at all) and Citalopram - no sleep at all and blinding head aches.

De repente me enfermé en marzo de 2015 con ansiedad generalizada. Los médicos parecen pensar que eso no puede ocurrir, ¡pero me pasó a mí! ¿Alguien más?
Me recetaron Citalopram. No podía dormir, así que tomé Zopiclone. Me sentía terrible por las mañanas, así que cambié a Sertralina y Amitriptilina. Un poco mejor. Mi médico de cabecera me sugirió Mirtazapina, pero me resistí debido a lo que había leído sobre sus efectos secundarios: aumento de peso y somnolencia. Más tarde escuché que se podía tomar Mirtazapina junto con un ISRS, así que le pedí a mi médico esa combinación. Seguí tomando Sertralina y añadí Mirtazapina. ¡MILAGRO! Desde la primera dosis (7,5 mg). Dormí bien y me sentí BIEN por primera vez desde marzo. Creo que muchos de mis problemas han sido causados por la falta de sueño (ya sea por la ansiedad o por el ISRS). La Mirtazapina me ha permitido dormir. En cuanto a los efectos secundarios: la Mirtazapina me hace querer dormir más de 12 horas, así que tengo que tomarla a las 8 p.m., y luego puedo levantarme (con dificultad) a las 8:30 a.m. He probado dosis entre 7,5 mg y 15 mg, pero no puedo mejorar más que eso. Gané 2 kg después de empezar con Mirtazapina, pero eso es menos de lo que perdí cuando me enfermé. Tengo que vigilar mi dieta, pero no más de lo que lo hacía antes de enfermarme. Puedo vivir con esos efectos secundarios.
Actualmente tomo 100 mg de Sertralina y estoy un 80 % recuperado; a veces siento un poco de ansiedad y depresión. Podría pedir más en el futuro. Planeo seguir con la dosis baja de Mirtazapina, ya que la tomo únicamente por sus efectos sedantes (que podrían disminuir si tomara más, creo).
En mi publicación de hace 15 minutos olvidé mencionar que una desventaja importante de la mirtazapina es que no confiaría en mí mismo para conducir después de tomar la dosis hasta aproximadamente 30 minutos después de levantarme al día siguiente.

Hi. I'm still taking 20 mg Escitalopram and 15 mg Mirtazapine. I take the Escitalopram in the morning and my miracle Mirt at night. I sleep well but am still exhausted. Still have dizziness and fainting that I am convinced is related to Escitalopram. Have tried to lower that dose but my issues returned.

I've been on 10 mg Escitalopram for 11 months and seem to have some good followed by crap ones...I can't think straight and get dizzy..it is good for my GAD and anxiety...also my cluastrophobia...I so wish it didn't give me all the other symptoms...my stomach has also started to be really painful and I'm having a gastoscophy but I'm positive it's the meds....I also take 25mg of Valdoxan to try and get some sleep...
I was on Mirt before this because my stomach reacted to the other ADs ..it's been a hell of a 11 month trip..
I've stuck with the Escitalopram because I couldn't face another withdrawal phase but am going to have to bite the bullet and do it I think...goodness knows which one though..
I only take about 7.5mg of the Escitalopram as I cut the end off...if I take a whole one, the symptoms get really bad again..
