Tens machines. Has anyone tried them ?

I recently had immediate improvement in a knee joint after a Chiropractor used a zappy type machine on it. I suspect it was a Tens machine. I will find out from her exactly what it is. I don't know if the knee problem was related to PMR of course, but I am now keen to get one if it can relieve a few problems

Yes, Flutterbie, on my back a number of years ago. It did help with my muscle spasms.:slightly_smiling_face: Good luck with the rest of your journey. Think positive and smile.

Thanks Michdonn. They are having a revival here and are being sold on the TV, but I havn’t found anyone who has tried them.

I have one, don’t use it much though! Can’t say it helps a lot, but doing anything at all helps us to feel better.
If you do buy one get it without wires - they get in the way.

Yes, I have one which I bought on a friend’s recommendation when I had all the pains which turned out to be PMR.

It turned out to be one of my best buys ever because the GP I saw to check ok to use said she used one herself but got me to describe my symptoms which included weight loss. Together with raised ESR and CRP I got a very prompt diagnosis.

I find it a comfort rather than a cure for my OA and my neighbour borrowed his daughter’s and agreed it helped with a badly strained hand.

Not that I imagine for a moment this is a problem for any of us but they are said to be very good for period pain! There is even a very small one you can wear for relief of that and similar long lasting pain.

I tried a TENS device on my PMR hip bursitis and it didn’t help at all - MAYBE even irritated it. PERHAPS ITS good for non PMR pains.

My wife and i both used ours, we no longer have it . Must not have made one of our moves. Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks Constance, it sounds like a good tip. The chemist is looking into which machines are available in the country for me.

And bladder control !!! The woman in the chemist was so excited about it, she repeated herself 3 times . She gave it a glowing report !

That’s a new one on me!!! Must look that up… (Not for me!)

No! I was told at the beginning they were no good for hips. They are recommended for people with PMR and OA.
