I have a terrible floating feeling and usually it goes away after some rest but it's been 2 days and it's not letting up.
By floating I mean, my entire body feels light and my head feels spacey and I am very tired. I also feel sick from it.
I just stopped a 5 day dose of prednisone for asthma treatment. Could the steroid have caused this?
I was dx w Menieres and BPPV so I do have underlying vestibular disorder. Please help me I feel like I am going insane I am scared cause this is horrible.
When you say you've just finished a 5 day dose of Prednisone, what was the daily dose?
From when this problem occured while you have started taking the dose?
My last dose was Wednesday but I felt it starting Thursday.
May have fluid build up in inner ear
Hi,
so sorry you're suffering? And I totally empathise with your fear. Your life feels like its completely changed! Who have you seen? I have to see a specialist physio who is going to perform an Epley Manouvre. And who will show me the regular exercises. I HAVE to try to get this horrible condition sorted . My life as I knew it has to return! For you too I know. Try googling 'vertigo and steroids' ...and see what comes up. Let me know and I'll do the same. Best wishes.
The reason i ask is i,ve taken Prednisone for other health probs in the past, and 40mgs is a high dose to take for just 5 days and not taper off. You cant just stop taking it!! Was this prescribed by anGP,what was it for? Why werent you tapered off down to a lower dose? Am not surprised you feel, bad.
sorry i asked why and see it's asthma. Was this tablets? Still seems strange,to,only be given 5 days and then stop. I onow for a fact as when I was younger on my first time of steroids, i didnt know this, stopped taking them and became seriously ill. Hospitalised etc etc.
What I was thinking. They tryed that high dose with me but did a taper. Bad to just stop.
I asked the nurse and looked it up too when they first gave it to me and they said such a short time of dosage doesn't require tapering. Anything longer than like 5 days requires it. But it is a possibility it's messing w me.
It's possible but I'm doubting it cause my ears were looked at a week ago and they said they were okay. My ears are ringing pretty bad tho. That real high pitched ring. Maybe the prednisone just has temporarily made it worse? It didn't all start until then.
Good idea! Thank you!
Hope you feel better as well.
I've taken prenisone 3 times for a neck problem and always have weird side effects from it. Give yourself some time to get it all out of yuor system.
I hope it doesn't stick around too long lol I was really frightened yesterday I actually debated on the ER. I was so out of it and dizzy feeling that I actually felt sick. That hasn't happened in a long time for me.
And today my ears are still ringing and loud noises are bothering me. Usually it goes away after a day or two of rest but this is relentless. Today makes 3 days.
My high dose taper was 5 days at 40, then 3 at 30, 2 days at 20, then 1 day at 10.
Yes that sounds more realistic. 40 mgs is really high! Shame they didnt help, you though, but they mostly are used,to reduce inflammation. (Had them for Crohns) Hydrocortisone which is bit different, (Same as what Adrenals produce), can be more helpful I feel.
i have Tinnitus too, high ringing. I dont notice it all the time. But it gets worse when my Vestibular system isnt 'happy'! Eg i just did some gardening work today, which involved reaching up and straining. I now have full on ringing! Doubt the Prednisone wld cause Tinnitus though
I think some people have a reaction to Prednisone as it,s a strong cortisone. Maybe a weaker dose, or different one wld. Be better.
