I just wanted to share the fact (hopefully im permitted) that there's a TV programme on tonight on BB1 called "The Menopause and me" at 1045pm
Im very much hoping it provides some real examples of how extreme and severe menopause can be with many of us suffering multiple deliberating symtoms daily, and not just the 'standard' hot flushes mood swings and fatigue
I do think it's great it's on mainstream TV. I'm intrigued to watch it.
Thanks for this. However on my BBC I've got a programme about the mayor of the north east. Are there different programmes depending on your area, I thought the BBC didn't do that. I'm gutted. Sheena x
It was by a Kirsty Wark, found it interesting, did talk about some of the variety of issues such as dizziness, headaches, joint pain, changes in skin hair, energy levels, depression, vaginal dryness. How it can lessen our confidence and question our place in the world. A guest was a specialist from the British Menopause society I hadn't heard of this society before. Spoke about the confusion around whether HRT is safe and as it currently stands the benefits far outweigh the risks. Covered concerns over bone density and lifestyle changes that can help..no smoking less alcohol calcium. Brought up benefits of CBT to help cope with psychological aspects. One lady swears by her lady Magnet which she said reduced hot flushes.
I was disappointed they didn't bring up anxiety issues which I know is a big one for many of us. Overall I'm pleased to see the matter being discussed in public eye & really hope it happens on a more regular basis with regular updates on any new ground breaking research and ways to help us cope both mentally and physically. For those overseas hopefully you can find it on You tube or "watch online" via google. Ps During last 1/2 hour they covered fertility and new research to show ovaries contain cells that can regenerate into new eggs.
Hi Liz would love to have watched this. Was interested in if the benefits out weigh the risks as i had to stop taking my HRT due to a procedure, back oo a very low dose now, but don't feel any benefits as yet been on them 10 days now?
