has anyone been put on Thiamine and has it worked?
Hi Shelly, I have never heard of Thiamine so have had to google it and this is what I have come up with:
People who drink heavily over a long period of time often have low levels of thiamine (also called vitamin B1). This can be because they have poor eating habits and may often vomit. It can also be because alcohol can damage the stomach lining, affecting its ability to absorb vitamins from food, or because it damages the liver where the thiamine is processed. Lack of thiamine can lead to a condition that affects the brain and nervous system called Wernicke's encephalopathy. Symptoms include uncontrollable eye movements (these can be side-to-side, up-and-down or rolling movements), problems with walking and coordination, confusion and memory loss. However, some people may not show all of these symptoms, which can sometimes make it difficult for doctors to recognise it.
have you been given it due to a vitamin B1 deficiency?
Hi Shelly, as Gizmo says, thiamine is a B vitamin which would be prescribes fr a deficiency. Have you definitely been diagnosed with fibro? x
hi, this was really interesting, I am one of the many being on a vey low carb diet. No bread, no cereals, no rice, no yeast, no soy, no.....the list can be long of stuff that contain thiamine that I DONT eat. I have even had a ,lot of white wine in my days. I am not an alcoholic, but have been drinking some. This was A kind of a penny drop for me. But I'm not starting to eat carb rich food, becos it makes the fibro (I am self diagnosed) worse. I bought B1 pills, and I even eat NADH and acetyl-L-carnitin. Interesting, really.
