Thirsty

This is going to sound weird, but is anyone else really really thirsty? I can't seem to get enough to drink. Of course I've been short of breath so maybe that has something to do with it? So tired of this.

Kathryn, I drink 1 liter of water thru the day, so not really thristy, but oh my goodness, the short of breath is NASTY. Pure hell. It makes me panic and want to run to the ER. I wheeze with it sometimes as well. Do you ever get the minor wheezing on days it gets bad? Ive been dealing with the shortness of breath for going on 9 months. Please let me know if you have found anything that makes it better or helps.

thirsty, shortness of breath, fatigue, doom & gloom, itchy skin, creepy crawly skin, ...i didnt realize until i started reading some of the comments here that this can all be related to menopause peri, post etc .....i thought it was just me.

I definitely feel your pain, I also have the severe anxiety and depression, chest pains if I forget to take my Serrapeptase, hypoclycemia, loss of appetite and weight. I could just go on. Maybe one day a doctor will read these forums, have pity on us and come up with something revolutional to help cure us.

Hi kathryan,

Yes I go this off and on all the time. The doctor told me that I was pre diabetes. I just laughed and said yeah ok so premenopause has nothing to do with all the symptoms I am having. These darn doctors don't know crap about menopause stuff

We actually know more than they do. I jus drink a lot of water and vitamin water. And short of breathe, and arms and legs feel like lead. Yes all of it. Your not alone my dear. Hang in there.

truly amazing that after all these years they cannot do better at helping us thru this.

thx you ....i too have arms and legs feel like lead...was having it really bad a few months ago...i know alot ofit was retained fluid but it was awful.....i had gestational diabetes and i'm wondering if maybe that's what i have now..going to my primary doc in few weeks to get tested.  ..ihave not been in few years ...and i have to have a D&C, Hysterscopy (sp?) and i have a polyp...uterine lining too thick.  but i've had all of these symptoms for the past few years ...i'm 53 post menopause for a yr and half

...and to think I thought I was the only one. Last couple of months I have been walking regularly at 03:30 and with dry throat and cotton mouth. I drink at least 1l from 22:00-06:00 when I should be asleep.

Hi Kathryn,

This is the story of my life, ever since early peri had tests for diabetes loads of times.

I'm on HRT and it's still there maybe just a little improvement as I was getting up for the loo 3 or 4 times a night and drinking half a pint of cordial each time and now it only happens once a night.

I don't know about you but water just doesn't do the trick it has to be a cordial containing sugar (one with sweetener will just leave me even thirstier). You are the first person I've seen complaining about this.

I am also constipated badly and have been ever since peri began too. Improved enough with HRT not to have to use laxatives every day but still not great.

Zigangie, Just wanted to mention that I had the most difficult time with constipation until I started taking 300mg  magnesium citrate at night before bed. Just thought I would pass it on,it may help.

Hi Snowbell,

Yes I know I already take half a dose more than recommended, still constipated. I used to take that plus laxatives still have problems then take 2 teaspoons of Epsom salts too.

Better since HRT but still use half dose extra magnesium a day.

Since HRT I've been having some looser days almost normal sometimes.

God the same here. Severely dry mouth all the time. I also have a burning mouth and tongue and lips. My jaw and face buzzes too. I suck an ice pole for short term relief . I am so fed up with it now 😕

The thirst can be down to several factorrs, fatigue, our sugars going to low or high, anxiety causes dry mouth, we pee lots as well, this inturn affects our blood volume and we then drop down on our electrolytes, its the low blood volume that makes us thirsty, but then if you take in too much water yo dilute your salts, so yo pee even more, and as a result of that become even more thirsty, when this happens your better taking in small amount of salt, especially if your finding the water is making you thirstier, just sprinkle some  on your food, if you have high blood ressure dont take in extra salt as it will send that up, so ease up on the water instead.  Our high inner temps also dehydrate us another reason for feeling thirsty thats the body making you thirsty so you take in the water, so keep water by your bed, avoid alchohol when your like this, and caffine stick to decaf drinks, and avoid fizzy drinks also, just water and decaf drinks.

Aww, gosh, this peri just mucks everything up. I hope it gets better.

Omg it's just so horrible. I really thought I was losing my mind. So grateful to have found this site. Prayers for everyone on here.

I don't know. I mostly get the SOB at night when I'm trying to go to sleep, I take Ativan if it gets really bad and my anxiety is through the roof. Hydroxyzine is great for anxiety also and not addictive. This all sucks so bad.

I took Xanax for the first time today and it finally calmed my anxiety and shortness of breath. But its so addictive and im afraid to take it more than once or twice a month. Im going to see if I can get a prescription for Hydroxyzine tomorrow. This peri does suck really bad.

if your arms and legs feel like lead, that is more than likely due to low blood pressure, and dehyrdation will be causing that, and thas why your thirsty, just keep drinking the water, it should ease that a lot, drink no more than 3 litres per day, and sip it every ten mins, that should help you.

Thats great that it did that, but what is Xanax i have never heard of that.

Hi Elaine, Its a benzodiazapene here in the US.
