Thr day had arrived!

It's D day for me. THR at Southend this afternoon!

Last shower for 2 weeks, body and hair washed in that horrible wash ✔Bags packed ✔ Food packages sorted in fridge for my amazing hubby to bring each day✔ (want to stick to diet) nerves all over the place✔

I am a tick list type of person and worry the home will fall apart without me. ..but I do know my family will look after eachother and the home while I'm away. I will miss my cat, Rosie .

Everyone in my lovely family knows the pain and discomfort I've been in these last couple of years and like me cannot wait til I'm pain free.

Let's hope there are no hiccups between now and admission time.

Will be back later.

Best wishes everyone

Westie 😊

All the best Westie. Op will be fine. It can be an emotional time for a bit afterwards but it's worth it!

Best wishes, this evening it will be over

All the best Westie by tonight you will be post op like the rest of us

Hi Westie

Had my RTHR on Wednesday

Don't worry - just put your trust in the wonderful staff and they will look after you so well

Do expect a bit of pain, especially at night but don't be frightened to ask for morphine as often as you need it. It really settles the pain down and allows

you to be mobile

You know however that this pain WILL go and is a result of the major operation you will have had

Be positive and you will soon be on the 'other side' looking forward to the rest of your life

kindest wishes Linda

Good luck to you westie! Tonight you'll have a new hip and can look forward to a pain free future. All the best

Good luck Westie - we're all thinking of you. Xx

Good luck - hope all goes well!

Best wishes for a quick recovery, hope everything goes well 🏃🏃

Good luck Westie, looking forward to your first post-op message!  You may have a bit of discomfort, but nothing compared to the long term pain you have had.  You,ll be jumping around like a Spring chicken!

my tips?...... Get moving ASAP, keep your painkillers topped up as long as you need to.  Do what is right for you!

Lots of hugs

Sue

Hi Westie,

Good luck! You'll find that it wasn't nearly as bad as you feared. Take on board all the good advice given on this site and you'll come on in leaps and bounds.

One of my cats ignored me when I came home, whereas the other one stuck by my side and loved the bed rests!

Xx

Good luck - you are well informed and prepared and now it is time to surrender ... let it all go ---- sending you love and healing and also include surgeon and staff - warm hug and, like all of us here, looking forward to your post op post ....

Hi westie,

hope your opp. goes great, you will be home with Rosie soon, one question, I have cats 3 of, and my fav cat is always meowing around me, and always wants to sit on my lap since I became  sore with the hip, I am told that cat's feel your pain and just want to love you more to make up for it, did Rosie act this way?

take care (((((hugs)))) Lynne.

Hi Lynne.

Thanks for replying. I'm ok. I'll fill you all in soon about post op.

Rosie had been fussing around me very recently, she seems to sense something is happening. She is vocal & communicates alot. I do miss her.

Best wishes

Westie 😊

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your heartfelt responses, most appreciated.

I am on the ward. Recovery was interesting.

I had to have a GA due to issues in my lower spine from a previous accident. The operating staff were great, very calm atmosphere. I drifted off so beautifully.

Now for the other bit. Due to the way i react after a GA I woke shivering plus in quite a lot of pain. They gave me a warming blanket that blows hot air over my body. I was given morphine for pain but it didn't work straight away. 3 shots in total over half hour and eventually relief.

I have pumps on my legs for circulation. Weird sensation . I have a drain on wound. As of this min I am in bladder retention which was something I've had before so hopefully will go on my own soon but who knows! Bladder scanner is being sought.

Back On The Ward I have eaten a light salad & drunk lots of water. I am able to lift my left side well but very sore, expectedly.

Here's hoping for a few hours sleep. Thanks for reading

best wishes

Westie😉

Hi Westie .... just know that you are in good hands ... you might just doze off and on - this is all normal - well, that was my experience - sort of surreal - you just had surgery and now you are back in bed - it is done and all is well - wishing you a calm night - warm hug

Hi Westie

Great news the op went ok - hope you are now fast asleep having been fed and watered.

Keep us posted on how you feel

I am on nights if you get lonly there

Good luck
