Hey everyone, so 2 months ago i came down with a flu; sore throat, fever, coughing etc. Took some antibiotics and soon i was feeling great. Two months have passed and for the last week or so Ive been having some sort of throat pain/tightness that comes and goes and when i swallow saliva i hear some clicking sound in my throat. My throat is also dry almost all the time and i get the urge to cough every few minutes. The pain that i feel is really hard to describe, the best i can do is that it feels like someone is choking me and pressing my throat really hard. Even tho my whole throat hurts, the right side hurts more, and sometimes, but not often, my right ear starts hurting too. Also i noticed that my voice got a bit deeper, i sing occasionally and i noticed cant reach high notes as i used to. I've seen an ENT specialist and he just looked in my ear and throat and said everything looks fine. But he didnt do laryngoscopy, so he couldnt see that far down my throat, where it actually hurts the most.
Im just so afraid i have throat cancer or something. I need some reassurance, is this common with anxiety? Has anyone else experienced this? Please help.
Hi Ella hope your feeling better , I too have experienced the same thing . It started of as a sore throat which went away , it then would come back on and of but it would always be on one side at a time . I soon developed a habit of constantly swallowing just to see if it it still hurt which I think just made it worse . My throat started to become dry and I started to develop this annoying itchy cough , there was even one day someone asked me if I have a cold because my voice sounded croaky and I tell you now I nearly passed out as I remembered reading about throat cancer . I also forgot to mention for three days I experienced this horrible sensation where I felt like my sailiva was too thick to swallow everytime I swollwed it felt like a lot of mucus . I was honestly so close to running to my doctors in tears . However , one day I woke up and most of my throat issues seemed to have gone . I still get this odd pressure sometimes when I lay down in certain positions almost feels like someone’s pressing on my throat , but apart from that and my acid reflux that’s about it .You could also be experiencing some sort of reflux as I’ve heard these symptoms are quite common and honestly even though I’ve experienced acid reflux before I feel like my anxiety definately set this one off . Since going through this bad anxiety flare (5 months now) I’ve experienced so many weird things it honestly amazes me what happens to the human body under periods of stress. Try not too worry which of course i know is almost impossiable , but remember many of us share the same experience and it did get better . Ofcouse for peace of mind visit your doctor if you feel like you need more tests but I’m the meantime try to be positive
