?Thyroid problems

for the last 6 weeks I have  been extremely tired  and also suffered frequent extra heartbeats. All heart checks have been fine and I have been put on Beta blockers to help with  my irregular pulse .I haven't started them yet.

  I feel exhausted and anxious. I'm always cold and my Temp is usually 35.5

with a pulse of about 58. My eyebrows are disappearing and my nails very fragile .  I am not overweight but eat small amounts. I think if I ate normally I would put weight on. I am usually fit and love long walks and keeping very busy but I just feel like resting all the time. Sometimes I get dizzy and also feel hypo.I always carry snacks. My GP has done blood test for Thyroid and says it's fine. I asked if there are other tests which could be done and she said there is no point. I am 61 years and female and usually very fit and well.

 GP suggested stress and depression but I'm absolutely sure this isn't the case.

 Any advice? Thanks

Yes that's exactly how I kind of feel lately but it was worse before but mine was that I was underactive on my thyroid so I was hypo but I feel ok now but not great , maybe you should get another doctor one that will listen to you and will try to help you

Some of your symptoms are like some of mine several years ago, extra heartbeats and they put me on Beta blockers, calmed the stress levels. Exhausted, anxious, finger nails used to bend over they were so weak, and my eyebrows and hair were falling out. I'm not overweight and ate in small amounts.

I used to be always on the go in one way or another. It was found that I had diabetes and the Doctor that told me asked 'How did you get rid of your weight?' I was really confused and said 'I've never been overweight!'

If you know it's not stres and depression then it isn't! They used to tell me I must be depressed when I said about the fatigue and I kept saying 'I'm not depressed!;

Diabetes may be something to consider? Then consider ME? Once we know we can do something about it.

Sarah your thyroid is not fine. It may display as 'normal range' in a blood test but you have classic hypothyroid symptoms. The real giveaway is the eyebrows!! You dont need beta blockers - you need an introduction to levothyroxine, gradually increased until your symptoms are gone. If you GP wont do this I suggest you begin to take supplememts which will help your thyroid to work more efficiently. You may well be deficient in vit B12 and vit D3. You cant overdose on B12 as your body gets rid of what it doesnt need. The recommended dose for D3 is 4000 IU a day.
