Hi Im new here. Im just 26 years old and yet I feel so old because my body wants to stay in bed all day.
Started 3 weeks ago i just had a not so painful stiff neck then suddenly it become worse. My neck shoulder and upper back become so tight and painful.I also have mild headache everyday.Tried stretching for this week yet it doesnt seem effective. Its making me uncomfortable and worse i cant do my job properly(CAD Drafter).Do someone have the same symptoms? And what should I do?
(sorry for my bad english
not my first language)
Hi there. Does your job involve sitting at a desk? I have something similar and have found heat (a hot water bottle or some heat rub) is the only thing that works. Pain killers don’t work. If you have a desk job, you may have to consider changing your seating or desk. Hope this helps. Bob
thanks bob ill try the heating rub.Hate drinking medicine so I didnt try any painkillers. And yes I do have a desk job for 2 years now just this is the first time i felt it.Thanks and I hope it helps.
Hi, your job may be causing forward head posture which places pressure on the discs in the front of your cervical spine. Research forward head posture and posture. Get a gel type ice pack and lie on your back with the pack in the curve of your neck - also try the sides of your neck. Not too much pressure. This will help bring down inflammation. Heat will inflame it further, though you might let some warm water run over it in the shower followed by ice. Imo don't do any stretches but instead rest it as much as possible so it will heal. Hope this helps.
Yeah stretches didnt help at all, i just thought that i have to move my neck a lot but then it gives me more pain.I wll try all those you suggested and hope ill find relief because it really makes me uncomfortable. Thanks
I have the forward head posture thing. A dr I visited told me it could be tech-neck.. From texting & bad posture during studying. He prescribed muscle relaxants but said it's only symptomatic & that I must improve my posture but the problem is idk how?!
I found YouTube videos with some exercises it seem to make it a lil better then it comes back right away. It's so annoying cause it's not a pain that you can adapt to but rather continuous stimulation. Is there anything you recommend or know how to improve the posture?
Same I do all the stretching tryed everything even go gym get the rope and pull and stretch and soon as I feel a bit crap l get a lot of pain again or even sitting down for a bit start to get pain and stiffness even sat in car plane but I think I could be the start of I can't remember what its called but old people get it.
Oh sorry I have had the pain for 10 years now still the same on change.
Doctor told me its just a muscle stiffness and said to have an ice pack and just fix my posture but it so hard because i have the habit to always bend my neck to my drafting table.I bought this shiatsu neck and shoulder massager with heat, though it gives me relief its just temporary.I also tried the exercise ball which recommended by my friend (fitness trainer) to fix my posture and it did lessen the pain and stiffnes though its hard to do it everyday.
Now the stiffness and pain still there but not that severe like before.Maybe because i lessen my workload and i just had my 1 wk vacation.
