I had my hysterectomy 11 weeks ago now and I'm just so tired! When do I expect that to go? I'm back at work full time and I've lifted a few things which has left me hurting! How slowly should I take it?
Hi Victoria
I had a TAH BSO in July and it is normal to feel tired even at this stage, I learned the hard way I am now waiting for my surgery date as in lot of pain in my left side and my bladder not good as leak at the slightest thing it's awful as 44 years old and feel incontinent 😟 x I was told by the lovely ladies on here that it can take upto a year to be totally healed and feel human again x you still heed to take it easy and don't lift anything too heavy please still take it easy and rest when possible xxx

Thank you for getting back to me! You poor thing, after hearing that I will slow down. I just feel so guilty when I have to ask for help, and I don't have the patience to wait but I will now. I don't want any more operations! Thank you again and good luck with your next operations
Hi Victoria
Thank you and I understand not wanting to ask for help I was same so did it myself 😔 wrong thing to do ha x I will keep everyone in the loop what is happening xx take care and relax hon xxxx
Hi Victoria , I had a TAH in June I work as a Auxiliary on a ward I've only just gone back to work. my tiredness has gone in the day but I do go to bed early. I've done 3 6hr shifts so far then going back onto night shifts next week I think the best advice is to listen to your body i still get back ache, aches & pains in my legs when I've been on them for a long time. Take care xx
Hi Victoria
i belong to anther hysterectomy support group as well asnthis one. Lots of advice and help on there too.
if you need more time go back to your gp,
some people talk about doing 'phased returns' building up to normal hours. It takes 6 months to get to 80% and another 6 to get to 100. Take it easy on yourself.
I am currently coming up to 5 weeks post op LÁVH BSO.
best wishes to you
Thank you for getting back to me! I know what you mean about not being tired during the day, but going to bed early and I was thinking 7:30pm every night is far too early! But hearing you saying that, makes me feel better. Thank you again 😃😃
Thank you Karen! I did a phased return or at least I thought I did, hahaha.. I had 6 weeks off then did I worked mornings only and then worked from home for a week because I was ruined! I've been back full time next for two weeks and I'm in bed by 7:30pm and I'm asleep at 7:30pm it's crazy, I've forgotten what my family look like!! 😂😂..
That doesnt spund good...Maybe you just need some time? On the hysterectomy dot org site, lots of folks talk about not feeling anywhere normal and ready for work till about week 13, tho recovery is obviously personal/individual.
My own op I had a lot of scarring work done too, so got bit more complicated...and of course the diff types hyst have varying (suggested) recovery times.
Would still ask gp for extra time off if you are struggling.
will def be asking for an extension on my certificate...def not up to squeezing myself into Reception aged kid's seats etc..lol
best wishes

Thank you Karen. What's the website for the other site please 😃
Hi, it's http://forums.hysterectomy-association.org.uk, I was given a link to it by my hospital as they said it was a great support group. Just reading through the posts helps kind of puts things in perspective, people's personal experiences, good and bad.
best wishes
