Tiredness and feeling angry

Hi, I was on celexa for 12months and it wasn't working for my anxiety and i wasnt able to sleep. So my doctor has prescribed me 15mg of avanza. Ive been taking it for 4 days and i am soooooooo tired all the time, feel really angry and have no patients. I can not stop eating anything i can get my hands on as well. Please tell me it gets better

The tiredness will get better in most people but the anger issue may not. A small percentage of patients get very angry on mirtazapine. Give it a few more days and see how you feel. The eating is a common problem with mirt, as is weight gain.

Give it a bit longer to settle in

For the first week it will leave you feeling tired, very tired, needs to be taken an hour before night sleep. If any of the symptoms get worse get off the mirt. All the best...

I have felt drowsy, tired, ill all the time I have been on Mirtazapine (11 weeks). Therefore I try to come off of it.

Hey neogenx, if you do come off, remember to come off slowly as withdrawal can be a horrible thing, all the best and if you need to talk contact the good folks here, they understand ☺

Yes, I know. Thank you. I read many stories here. Anyway I decided to go from 15mg to 7.5mg directly. It is day 3 and feel almost the same like on 15mg

Hello Megan,

Just try to stick with it a couple of days most time te tiredness will be gone.

Not by me, on every mg i got tired and with 15 mg i got very angry.

Wish you luck.

Hi Megan

Avanza, is this the soluble Australian version?

The first 4 or 5 days of tiredness are pretty awful but then it seems to get better, so hang on in there.  The eating was/is a problem for me 18 months down the line, weight gain ugh ... awful.  Try and reach for a healthy cracker and remove all the sweet treats & cakes, it is never ending otherwise.

Just a thought ... did you taper slowly from Celexa before starting Mirt/Avanza?  Some of the anger could be Mirt', this has been written on this forum before, but I wonder if some of is could be discontinuation also ?

Hi Calmer, i was taking 40mg of celexa and was told by my gp to stop taking it for 3 days then to start avanza. I got horrible withdrawal symptoms from stopping the celexa.

That is so typical of general practictioners, they just don't realise how difficult withdrawal can be!  So that is only a week or so ago that you stopped, how do you feel now?
