ive been dealing with jaw pain that comes and goes, starts off a dull ache and turns into horrible throbbing and quick stabbing pains on my right side. Hurts to chew, talk or walk around a lot. that's an explanation as to why my pain doesn't get better while I'm at work.. It gets to a point where I can see my neck vein throbbing out of my neck. It also feels really dry in my mouth and swollen. I'm guessing its TMJ disorder but I'm not sure, my dentist says theres nothing wrong on xrays, but told me the inside of my cheeks are chewed up to the point where my cheeks are white inside and told me to get a mouth guard made for grinding. I'm just tired of having to take medicine and then it gets better then comes back a couple weeks later. It always comes back, does this sound like anyone's experiences with TMJ disorder?
Hi Amber,
Yes, can empathise with you entirely.
I saw my dr and sent me for xray, and although nothing serious it says it was different on that side than the other.
I saw my dentist and did exercises for a few weeks, only made it worse! They wanted me to try a brace to wear at night as they thought I was grinding my teeth, I said no, I didnt grind my teeth, I sleep with mouth open.
they have refered me now to see an oral specialist.
Get your dentist to refer as nothing is helping you by the sound of things,
I am taking pain killers and muscle relaxants, but not helping much.
Good luck Amber and take care.
Hope you soon feel better. Let us know how you get on.
Best wishes
