Trapped nerve in hip

Can anyone advise me what to do with a trapped nerve?

I have quite an intense pain when I walk sometimes and it ‘catches’. I literally can’t walk when it happens, has anyone successfully been able to fix this? And if so how? My phsyio has been moving it etc, but she has made it worse :(((((((( much worse.

Would love some advice please

Is is clinking? Mine is and I can actually hear it snap…

hello
i am 10 weeks and have excruciating pain that rafdiates from my thigh / hip and at the back of my knee .
absolute agony and gets worse as day goes on
i saw my surgeon last week and he xrayed my hip which was fine and thought it muscle and nerve problem and i waiting for physio .
i hope you improve soon x

Have you had an mri scan to check exactly what is going on with the hip or more the muscles around it

I had the same problem and at times I could not walk at all with lots of pain. Since I had both hips done 3 months apart my pain and limping would go back and forth. I gave it some time and kept exercising and it went away after a year. I still have numbness in both hips along my outer thigh. Once in awhile I have pain, but I’ll take this pain over what I had before I had the operation. Good luck!

What I did was to find a good osteopath, she cured my pain in one visit.

I had my replacement in November and ended up with a trapped sciatic nerve. my physio started with lots of painful manipulation in January and gave me exercises like rolling a tennis ball on the base of my spine. seriously, it made no difference for the first 6 visits, aside from making me feel worse but now its actually coming good!!

From my experience I would say persevere for a while and see how it goes - its not a quick fix apparently! I’m going weekly still but my pain and mobility have really improved over time. Best of luck to you

Yes I can feel some movement inside, but can’t hear anything. Do you have this? What is it?

Doodle I am so sorry this has happened to you.

The only reassurance I will give you, is the nerve pain and trapped nerves happened with my first hip replacement, and they did resolve. I can’t remember how, but they did get better in time.

Good news that the hip is fine, so hopefully they can help you with the other problems. Quite a few hurdles we have to endure to recovery.

Hope you feel better soon

No not yet, I was going to give it another week or two before contacting a doctor to see if it settles down.

Okay that is good that it went in time. I will keep going!

I hope it has more or less resolved now?

What a good idea, I will book one today. Thanks Rocket.

Thank you Suzie that is reassuring. I will try the tennis ball. It is annoying as otherwise I would be fine. So hoping it will ease off.

i wasnt aware that an osteopath could help with nerve / muscle problems as i thought they were just bones !!
i will try and find a good one and try it
thanks

when I saw my osteopath, he worked in my lower back and then on the muscles of operated hip. He also uses actupuncture and tens machine and I wish I could afford him every week as I walked like a dream and had no limp!

Did you have a leg length discrepancy? I do from the surgery.

i have my first physio tomorrow and if unsuccessful will try an osteopath
i have no leg descrepency but due to a family crisis had to overuse my new hip and muscles much to early

Doodle I am sorry to hear you have had problems at home. Have you been doing the exercises? Seeing a physio is an absolute must if you are to recover properly in my experience.

I am trying to make the time to look after myself. I find that the minute you seem a tiny bit better the world expects you to be fully recovered and back on the road of life, and we are certainly not fully recovered just yet. It can be very tiring and demanding at this stage.

I hope your physio can help relieve some of the strain and you will be more comfortable soon.

thankyou Rose
i am just feeling very apprehensive that the physio is going to hurt and maybe make things worse !
well i shall go this morning and see what he says .
onwards and upwards
