Troublesome menstrual symptoms

A bit embarrassing, I've been having strange symptoms over my periods that are seemingly getting worse each cycle. I've been on my period for over a year now and each period lasts 9-10 days. My symptoms include severe cramps in the lower abdomen, moderate pains in the lower back, vomiting, headaches, fatigue, paleness and diarrhoea. Fortunately these symptoms are only severe on the first 3 or so days of each cycle, but I am told the length of the periods overall is not normal. I take paracetamol to no affect. I am not sexually active nor do I take any sort of birth control. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

How old are you? If your around 16 or younger since you say youve been on your period for a year so im assuming you only had it so far for a year? So means your periods are still fairly new. My sister had bad periods when she first started and slowly they got shorter as she grew. My periods always been bad and heavy. So i would talk to a dr. You can try bc but i would let nature take its course and let my period fix itself for about like a year if it srill doesnt i would consider a bc

Jessica this all sounds fairly normal and absolutely nothing to worry about. What you describe are normal period symptoms. The vomiting is perhaps a little unusual, but it might be that you are particularly sensitive to the change in hormones that occurs during your period. Everyone is different and everyone gets different levels of severity in symptoms. If you are finding the cramps too much to deal with, along with the vomiting, I suggest you speak to your GP and they may be able to prescribe something to help. And the length of them isn't anything to worry about, I'm sure they will settle down in time. Again though, everyone is different and period lengths vary from woman to woman. It's pretty rare to have 'textbook' periods all your life! So try not to worry and speak to your GP if you want something to ease the cramps and vomiting.
