I have very, very mild asthma, I only take one Montelukast tablet each night, do not need inhalers, but trying to buy an annual travel insurance for this pre-existing condition is totally useless. My husband died a few weeks ago and because of his illness COPD/emphysema/bronhiectasis we have never had a holiday for the past four years. My sons are taking me on a cruise next year and I was looking into the possibility of getting an annual policy as it works out cheaper in the long run. I cannot find one company, Saga, Age UK that will even consider me for an annual policy. It is absolutely ridiculous. Does anyone on here know of any good travel policies that you can buy. I thought Saga and Age Uk would be the ones to go for but no, they do not want to know. I would be very grateful if someone knows of any.
Have you tried M&S insurance. I have their Premium credit card that includes travel insurance for me and my family members until the age of 70. Asthma is covered as is everything else
Thank you. I am 72 years old will this over me as well. I have just found another company and it will cost me nearly £300 for an annual cover. I woud not care, apart from very mild asthma (which I think I have been wrongly diagnosed with) there is nothing wrong with me.
I have just done the Marks and Spencer online quote for an annual trip and because I am over 70 years of age, they will not cover me for worldwide annual trips. I was going to do a carribean cruise in May and America later in the year as well with my family. They will cover me for single trips so I suppose I will have to make that do and pay each timeI go on holiday. It does not give you darned confidence if these companies do not think you will last the year out.
It's crazy isn't it. 72 isn't old and as long as you're on medication then I can't see what the problem is.
The silly thing is, is that I do not use my inhalers as as far as I am concerned I do not have asthma, I can walk up hills without getting out of breath. But because I was diagnosed 20 years ago I still get the same medication I always had, it never changes so I have to put in down on the form otherwise if I was taken ill with anything else like faqlling over the side of the ship, they would refuse to pay out as I had not mentioned my medial condition. I have not even checked what a single trip insurane would be so I am waiting until the new year and see what happens. Apart from my so called asthma, I am a fit and healthy 72 year old, can walk anywhere, still wears jeans and trainers and takes a massive German shepherd dog for walks on the park. Since my husband died I have been building myself up again as the stress was killing me, even one of the questions on the form was, have you ever had stress. But it does not ask you under what circumstances I had stress for., I could have told them because I was a 24/7 carer for my disabled husband for the past three years, That is enough to stress anyone out. But it is not long term, I am now looking after me now and I feel as fit as anything I am still grieving, but I am now sleeping at night and not being woken every hour on the hour. I am trying to be positive but when these stupid companies make out you are at deaths door yourself then it does not help matters much at all. If I am willing to pay for the insurance who are they to tell me I cannot have it. Gosh I am angry.
I personally use the Post Office and find them very good
They quoted me £300 for a single trip. I have just got a quote from Saga for a single two week trip and it was £293.
Glad better for you. Think for me it was better because have Epilepsy which they ignore as long as it is controlled, other companies double the premium as soon as hear mention of it, so suppose different companies are better for different things
I am not payng nearly £300 for single trip holidays, they can stick it. I have found an annual holiday for unlimited world wide trips for £293. Good reviews as well.
This is my personal opinion. Why do you talk so much ? I have chronic bronchial asthma and a heart condition and I am busy doing my bucket list. I buy Zurich one trip insurance for about 25 GBP from my travel agent and thats it. What is the problem ? ?
