Hi r.d.s26296
Yes, your moon/pumpkin face will disappear eventually as you gradually taper off pred. Even though i watched my diet and carbs i still had a fat face!šbut it is back to normal size now and the specs i had then fall right off my face, i can't even hook the arms over my ears they're too wide š¤. You will get there r.d.s with positive thoughts and happy days....
Lynda, I was just trying to build up my leg muscles riding my bicycle, but I over did it. Now I am just hobbling around losing more muscles. I hoping I haven't ruined my ski season. Not too active, still positive with a dumb smile
š
Thanks Mary
Your words are extremely comforting.

One would have to have an extremely tiny derriĆØre to sit on one of those shooting sticks.
An elderly friend of mine toppled off hers,as it wasn't so stable. She is a very young 81 year old. š± Luckily she fell on a grassy patch.
I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. Far too
Dangerous.
Depends which sort you get. Some have quite respectable seats. Though they aren't meant for SITTING on - just perching to rest your legs.
Well if you ski....you surely are a step ahead of me! I've skied one time and nearly ended up taking a nose dive into the stream at the bottom of the slopeš!
Really too bad as I live about 4hrs away from what I consider to be one of the most beautiful places on earth....LAKE TAHOE!!
Try travel seat or cane seat, and on line some seem quite inexpensive. Even Staples seems to carry them. They seem to open up into a three legged stool. What my acquaintance had didn't look like a shooting stick.
Oh, Lynda I love the Lake Tahoe area when we were moving to the SW that was my first choice. Some great ski areas around the lake and the scenery is breathtaking. We are now settled in NM and I have job offers from 2 ski areas to teach this winter, if I can just get moving. Doctor on Thursday May give some insight. Stay well, keep moving, but don't follow my example. You got smile! āŗļø
I got smile...I like that!
Agreed about lake Tahoe....it is, indeed, breathtaking! The mountains, the lake, but most of all....the glorious TREES! Omg...makes me smile just to think of! š
And great ski areas, the snow a bit heavy, but I don't care. Neither one of our football teams are doing that great, sorry about the QB! Well as an old NE sport's fan, wait till next year!
You gotta smile! šš
Omg....I couldn't believe it when Jimmy G. got injured!š±š£. THIS was 'sposed' to BE our year! You just never know, do you??
U hope you're able to get your "ski legs" going....sounds like great job opportunities ahead!
Please keep me posted on how you're doin'. A busy week ahead w/appts, very nervous. I guess I'll be finding out about eye surgery possibilities....
Hi Lynda,
I have had huge problems with this site recently and not receiving communications/notifications but guess it is due to the upgrade BUT I Have another questions for you and your very knowledgeable followers to concentrate your mind for me a bit and I hope you get it ....(Ha) :
I had a whole raft of blood tests last week and among many one result came back with a very deficient Vit D level of 10 (in UK normal minimum is 40) ! My GP had given me a very large dose of Vit D3 to take over next 6 weeks....25000 ampules x 2 a week for 6 weeks ! i don't get Vit D from sunshine (mainly due to our English weather) but I have had many skin cancers removed)!
My question really is should I have been given Prednisolone for months on end before ruling out all other possibilities.....I'd be mad if I have been suffering for so long and now taking the Pred when a high Vit D dose could have solved my problem and PMR was not my problem !
Many years ago I was diagnosed with a malabsorption problem and an Endocrine consultant recommend high doses of Vit D as my levels were very low and after taking these for a whiule my levels came into normal range and was never checked again and my GP (a few years back) said I didn't need to take it anymore - so I stopped !
Any thoughts please.....x
It is possible - but if the pred worked it would suggest an inflammatory cause whether the ESR/CRP were raised or not. Pred doesn't usually improve symptoms if it is due to low vit D. And low vit D doesn't automatically mean you will have signs or symptoms - my husband's was lower than yours and getting it sorted made no difference to how he feels.
However - you are right, it is one of the things listed in the differential diagnosis. And I would be reminding anyone who said to you to stop taking vit D that you have a diagnosed malabsorption problem.
Lynda, being a NE sports fan for years our saying was wait till next year. We ever know, let us know your status. I will post to you. Thursday is my big day, going to see sports doctor, who will look at the MRI. Hopefully I will get a good report. Good luck, think positive, smile. The tops of our mountains are white. Thinking positive for a great ski season!
