TURP - unable to pee after this procedure.

I had a TURP two weeks ago and recovery is without problems apart from being unable to pee and being refitted with a catheter. Anyone else had this problem? What was the outcome? Thanks!!!!

Lyn sorry your having a problem.  Sometime it takes a long time before you will see any improvement. Turp surgery is a long hall.  That is why there is a 40% decline in Turps.  If the problem continues call your doctor don't wait  Good luck  Ken

I had a clot get stuck. Nurses didn't flush Cath properly in hospital. When they pulled the Cath i got blockage. Went to docs office he inserted a Cath to check for blockage and pushed it out. I passed it.

I had lots of problems with my turp  had a catheterin at the hospital they tried to remove it I still couldn't pee without it  so they put it back in and I went home about two weeks later went back to the doctor took the catheter out waited 4 hours still could not  so I left the doctors office with another catheter I was beginning to get angry at turp  was supposed to fix that problem  finally after a couple of months I was able to start playing again  after I had a dilation of my urethra that was no fun now I am left with a dick that is  about 1 inch long  the head is up inside of my dick all the time and my semen is clear like water it has been a long difficult journey at least I can Pee can't get much of an erection  i'm hoping my semen goes back to normal of course that could be caused by the hydrocele that I had fixed I don't know

Very sorry that happen.  What did the doctor say.  Did he have any comment.  That should have not happen.  Boy I'm happy that they came up with other procedure to help men with there BPH problem.  Hope things will get better.  Ken  (  Great Name )

Sounds like me 8 months ago.  After the turp, I couldn't urinate and had to put the Foley back in. After about a month, the uro, took out the Foley, but I still couldn't urinate on my own.  I was left a choice of either wear a Foley or CIC. I am so glad that I chose to CIC, because it is now 8 months later, and I can urinate on my own, but I still need a catheter at least twice a day, to empty my bladder completely. It feels great to be able to not wear a Foley and I have the freedom to go about my daily routine without have to wear a Foley.  My bladder, has improved because of the exercises that i've been taught on this forum.  When I CIC, I also push by tighting up my stomach muscles and I can see the urine, increasing in flow as I push.  I believe because of my exercises, my bladder muscles have gotten stronger!
