I don’t know if anyone will see this post as the site was gone for some time and just returned.
I had a laser lithotripsy and my ureter was perforated. I was stented for a few weeks and had the surgery again which was able to remove the stones.
I am experiencing some post surgical complications now. Anyone else had something like this happen?
Sorry to hear about your operation causing damage to your ureter. Hope they sort out your stones soon and you begin on the road to recovery. Renal Stones are painful, unpredictable and difficult to get rid of.
I too am scheduled to have lithotripsy via ultrasound radio waves.
I have two kidney stones one in each kidney. But the most troublesome one, the one in the left kidney is blocking passage of urine from the left kidney to the bladder. The urology team are using a JJ-stent to circumnavigate the stone and open the passage to allow urine to drain from the left kidney at the moment.
Then they will blitz the stone with ultrasound radiofrequency waves and destroy the stone. They need to remove the JJ stent to allow this to happen.
I understand if all goes well they will need to replace the JJ stent into the left kidney after clean up.
The stone in the right kidney is larger but there is no evidence of exact location.
Over the past couple of weeks both stones have been causing me pain and I am being treated with a drug to help with this (Tamsulosulin) - this drug is normally used to help men with BPH - So they are using it off-license in my case. As I am a woman with renal stones
Fingers crossed the operation (Ureteral Lithotripsy) goes well and at least we will have some partial relief of the pain.
Good luck hope you recover quickly
