My doctor has suggested switching from venlafaxine to citalopram, just wondered if anyone else had done this switch? If so, how did you switch and how were the side effects? Thank you x
I did .the withdrawals from effexor where horrendous..and the start up effects from celexa where just as bad..but I preservere on celexa ..and recover on celexa.

Hello, just been advised to do the opposite. 13 weeks in cit, after seroxat stopped. Seemed okay for first 5 weeks, then anxiety went through roof. Dropped dose, seemed to be slightly better for a week, then anxiety went through the roof yesterday couldn't switch off. Was advised if lower dose didn't work, then do a stepped switch to venlafax. What did ven do for you, or not as it looks like.

Doctor did say that citalopram was best ssri overall, and venlafaxine the best snri overall.
Sorry for sounding daft but wat does ssri and snri stand for x
2 different types of a similar antidepressant. Ssri affects seratonin and snri both seratonin and ne-epohradrene. They're similar, but ssris suit some people and snris others.
