Vitamin D deficiency success stories

My question to you all is, has anyone been experiencing bone loss or hair loss in their journey? First off my levels were at 23 back in January 2018. I’ve been supplementing on my own 3000 ui a day which has the vitamin k in it as well. My bones never ached before I started taking the supplements but my levels were again at 23. I’m guessing this is from my bones taking to the supplements. Anyways, I’ve noticed that this deficiency has made my bones progressively become smaller or different, and I’m not sure if they’re more fragile, but even laying in bed I can feel one leg on top of the other while on my side just feels different? It’s like my whole body shape and ways of like moving around are changing because of my bones? Lifting weights at a gym are so hard I feel so tiny and small now like my body isn’t even the same to how I use to be just like 2 years ago I’m only 21 years old so I know it can’t be from old age. Also my hair has been falling out like crazy and I have such beautiful thick ashy brown hair and I really don’t want to lose it. I’ve lost about 3/4s of it, and am starting to see a few bald spots. I’ve been tested for all other things that a blood test would test for and I’m clear of anything else (no hypo/hyperthyroidism). But just in case, I started taking iron pills daily, and only a tiny bit of the hair falling has stopped. Has anyone had any hair success stories?? And will my hair grow back thick again once my levels go up? Thanks

How high is your dose for weekly tablets

Yes I feel literally everything u feel love.. my dr finally just told me that I have low vitamin d.. it was under a 4 . So he prescribed me to take 50,000 iu a week I scared to take but I'm going to try it tonight so I can sleep.. this whole time they just said I had anxiety and depression and gave me celexa and didn't do further testing. I have to go to a gastroenterologist to find out my vitamin d was low

For everyone who is deficient in vitamin D, please know your mineral and vitamin status before taking vitamin D. You will end up feeling worse with more problems and mess up your electrolytes.

If your vitamins and minerals are good then vitamin d should make you feel better. Just be aware that vitamin D depletes magnesium, retinol vitamin A and crashes potassium. When your body gets unbalanced everything goes wrong and it can take a long time to rebalance. I am paying for it right now still trying to rebalance things back. It's been a nightmare.

I wish you all well and take care

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie here and I must say that I appreciate the kindred spirit and the way everybody has been participating, sharing their stories and experiences, and keeping this place alive. I have learnt quite a lot in a short span and I am confident that as I interact more with you in the coming days, I will learn much more.

I have read lots of brave stories. I choose this medium first, to say thank you to every one of you for being strong in the light of your challenges. Your stories are full of hope and courage, and I am certain that they will help so many people out there find their feet.

Thank you.

I have had my own share of health challenges. I have fell down flat many times, sick and tired of life, but I have managed to pull through and I am now standing on my feet. I feel obliged to share my story because I believe that sharing my experience can be the difference for a whole lot of people who might be going through different health challenges at the moment.

For years, I have suffered ill health with many accompanying symptoms: Panic attacks, depression, poor sleep quality, Tachycardia, and many more related symptoms. These symptoms made me hate life in all sense. I was afraid to live. I could not interact with people around me, and I could not go out. I was living in my own shell, afraid of what the next moment could turn out to be. The symptoms made me feel horrible and instead of waning, they became more severe, even with continuous visits to doctors.

My travail continued as I daily hoped for a miracle, something to take away all my pains and troubles.

Unfortunately, my sufferings and bouts with the symptoms were heightened because of ignorance. I did not know that I lacked essential vitamins and minerals that my body needs to function at optimal levels. You see, the situation most of us have found ourselves cannot be far-fetched from my experience. I tried all sorts, but none yielded any positive changes. I was dying and I knew this even as more money went down the drain. At a point, I no longer felt pity for myself; I just wanted everything to end. I wanted to enjoy life, I wanted to be free and that was exactly what I did.

In a last resort to save myself, I started to consult medical literature. I swept through the old and new ones, trying to find out what I had to do to be healthy. I wanted to stand on my feet and I wanted to pursue my big dreams. The medical literatures revealed so much about my symptoms and I started to connect the dots. It became clear to me gradually, that the core of my troubles might be nutritional deficiencies. I started to supplement with vitamins and minerals, shutting out the pharmaceuticals because I feared that they could further compound my problems.

That turned out to be my salvation. I started to notice improved changes. I began to feel strong and refreshed. Apparently, I had pronounced deficiencies in Vitamin D3 and every symptom I experienced, could be traced to it. I started taking high doses of Vitamins D3, K2, and magnesium.

I am particularly saddened by my plight, because many people actually battle with varying health conditions because they lack the right information. It is in fact more disheartening when health professionals fail to help you assuage the pains caused by the situation when they do not point you in the right direction.

My blood test results showed high deficiencies in Vitamin D3 and immediately I started with the supplements, I started to feel and live better. I started with 50K of Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2 and magnesium. For me, this combination created the closest thing to a modern day elixir and eventually gave me relief.

It is high time health professionals started sharing these knowledge with people because it could help end the suffering of a lot of people, and this is why I am sharing my story.

I hope that sharing my story would help someone make a turnaround, and take charge of his or her life, as I did. Even if it is just a single person. I hope that this single person will share this with another person until it goes viral.

People do not have to go through so much when the potential solution to their problem is very simple and inexpensive.

I do hope once again that my story resonates and connects with some of you. Vitamin D3 turned my life around for better and I believe that I am not alone here. Please spread the word, share your experience. You never know how much your story and experience might help someone in need.

I am just glad that I could figure out my troubles. You too can.

But it's nice to know I'm not alone

Hi lottie,

I know and feel what you’re going I’ve personally experienced it first hand, but let me assure you, it gets better. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Your courage is inspiring.

Vitamin D is extremely important and essential to humans since really it isn’t a vitamin its actually a steroid hormone, and its deficiency causes a host of symptoms.

Based on my successful experience with vitamin D, allow me to share these important recommendations with vitamin D supplementation; (1) if you suspect that you’ve been deficient in vitamin D for a long time, then aim to reach therapeutic blood levels of vitamin D to experience its healing effects which is between between 70-100 ng/mL (2) it’s extremely important to supplement with the co-factors needed for vitamin d metabolism: Vitamin K2 as MK7 and Magnesium; vitamin k2 guides calcium to where its needed to the bones and teeth and arteries where it could lead to calcification issues, and magnesium is needed to activate vitamin d in the body and if you’re deficient in magnesium this process is impaired. (3) if you want to further educate yourself on this subject, I urge you to watch a lecture on YouTube by Dr. Michael Holick: search d-lightful vitamin d by Michael holick.

Feel well soon,

MrLeaf,

Correction: and prevent it from going to arteries where it could lead to calcification issues.

Just wanted to say Hi to Lottie, I just found this forum too, and reading your post, there are so many similarities there for me. I have started a new post with my experience before I saw this thread. (About Menopause with vitD) Hope we can all support each other through this x x

I feel weak still although muscle pain and fatigue has gotten better. It is very depressing not allowing me to sleep properly. I do wish to know your your opinions. Any help and suggestions are welcome. Please!

I had blood tests and was found to have vitamin D deficiency. I saw the doctor for for aching limbs especially in the morning. I was prescribed a high level course of vitamin D pills for ten weeks. They made me feel so unwell that I had to stop taking them. When I told the doctor this she referred me to a neurologist who did 10 blood test , an  MMR scan on the brain and neck and tests on nerves and muscles. In the meanwhile he put me on vitamin B pills. When I saw the neurologist to get the results. I was told there was nothing wrong with me but I do carry on with taking2 vitamin B Compound Tablets. The whole episode took about three months.

Hi there,

Hope you feel well very soon.

Please read my comment regarding the co-factors needed by vitamin d metabolism: Vitamin K2 and magnesium. Since magnesium supplementation depletes these two and you run into a deficiency in these and this is why you feel worse. I too felt worse but not anymore since I started K2 magnesium.

Hi there,

While yes, according Vitamin D Council, the upper daily limit is 10000 IU, it’s however the upper limit to those who aren’t deficient in vitamin D. In your case, you were found deficient and were prescribed high doses to get your levels to the normal range as soon as possible. So my advice is, stick with what your physician told you. However, once again, it’s extremely important that you make sure you’re supplementing with Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and not vitamin d2 (ergocalciferol) since D3 is the natural form for us humans, it’s the same form our bodies synthesise when exposed to sunlight. Also, it’s very important to take vitamin K2 as MK7 with magnesium either as glycinate or citrate.

Feel well soon,

MrLeaf

I meant since vitamin d supplementation depletes these two (vitamin K2 and magnesium). Forgive me, I’m using a mobile device and I’m not good at typing with it.

Anything for me MrLeaf?

Hi prabal,

Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. Hope you feel well soon.

Comments to other users were also meant for you since you share same issues. I apologize I should’ve mentioned you.

The first thing you need to know is your current vitamin d blood levels. Have you gotten retested after supplementation? Maybe your levels are still low? Also are you taking the co-factors: vitamin k2 mk7 and magnesium? Most issues that occur after vitamin d supplementation could be traced to them.

Has the brain fog gone for you? Did you feel disconnected?

Has anyone noticed a slight shaking or trembling to hands? I used to have such steady hands but some days notice a temble when do things. (As well as other symptoms like weakness, fatigue night sweats etc.) also some days I seem to feel ok, then next day feel wiped out and tremble back...

MrLeaf, please can I ask about the additional things you mention, to take along side the Vit D supplements, what strengths I need to be taking, and where is best to buy them in the UK?

You mention Magnesium, I have seen a level of 400mg being mentioned, does it depend on the amount of Vit D supplement being taken?

You also mention vitamin k2 mk7? I can find a vitamin K in holland and barrett, but I dont seem to be able to see anything about mk7, again what amount should I be taking?

(I am currently on a  20,000 ui a day for 15 days, then told to get vitD OTC on a continuing basis)  Thanks and hope you can advise x
