I know for me, I have times where I barely feel that I have LS (well, relatively speaking as far as LS goes!). Then I have really bad days. Also, I realize there are triggers like bike riding, wearing tight trousers etc., I thought it might help people if we put here what we do on those days to ease pain or and itching.
Or, other odd symptoms we get.
We could break it up into perhaps (activity we were doing if any)
Activity that set off the bad bout
Pain or itching and what we used to ease it.
The other day I had a really painful day. I looked like I had been scalded for some weird reason. Very red and sore. I hadn't done anything that day that I can recall. The only thing I can think of is, I ate sugar?
I used ice and vaseline, not my normal combo', but hey, it worked and it might help someone else.
I'd really love some input and perhaps this can help ourselves and each other. Love to you all. x
Hi there, I haven't been diagnosed with. LS yet seeing vulva clinic 15th of this month I think she will do a biopsy this time, I don't know what has triggered this episode got it last Thursday again, open sores very uncomfortable its easing off now ( I hope) off to docs this morning just to make sure, went to walk in centre Saturday morning she was clueless gave me thrush cream, spoke to chemist about it she said not to put it on an open sore, told me to use sudacream or vasilene, used the sudacream it eased it a bit, will let you know what doc says. Take care x
I read your other comment so know you are back from the Docs. I wanted to know if the ulcered part was the LS? I have a part that is very sore. Sort of like a 'sore'. The Docs have seen it, never biopsied it.So has the consultant. Bit confused now. As to what parts are LS and what parts are ulcering? I'm glad you feel better tho'
hi Wero so glad you are finding this helpful. I can relate to all above. Oddly I don't get 'cuts', well hold thumbs. I find the steroid (clob?) makes it more sore. Not 100% sure of it. I love coconut oil, at times though, I can't use it, it makes it irritated. So I switch between Emu oil and Coconut, lately vaseline. I never wear knickers. Horrible things they are.
Hello Callianne, I am not able to use Clob either. It was the first steroid I had but made my condition much worse. I now have Betnovate which is really effective. Vaseline is a little like white soft parafin but a bit harder so not as easy to work into splits. Glad you don't get them, they are evil.
Brilliant idea Callianne! My problem is permanent white patches either side of my vagina with no itch whatsoever so I ain't sure whether I should be using the steroid or not at the moment (at the hospital in July so I have a full list of questions for then). I only get inflamed and very sore just on the edge and slightly inside of my vagina after intercourse. This weekend was quite bad but instead of the dermovate I have literally poured cool boiled salt water down there about three times per day (Sunday and yesterday). This has immediately felt very calming and the sore skin has gone now back to normal pink colour. The white patches of course are still there but I'm hoping the hospital will advise further if these are a permanent thing now or if I can do anything to get rid of those. Has anyone else used the salt water or would bicarb work better? I have also bought some sudocrem today after reading various positive posts about that too. After being in a shocking marriage for 20 years I am now in a very loving relationship and gutted that this may become a problem every time we are intimate
I can so relate to your post on many levels. I have one white patch. It started small and it is painful more than itchy. It is near the opening of my vag.
I've not found the doctors that helpful here so far. They don't explain much so will be looking at any progress you make.
Can also relate to that gutted feeling. I met the person I love and adore 15 years ago. We spent 10 years on the internet, I traveled countries to finally meet him and by the time I got there I had LS!
From very sexy talk from afar, we have zero sex now. Well, nearly zero. What a disappointment.
I had the white patch (as I will call it for years) then it grew slightly. I was TERRIFIED! Eventually saw a Doc and was told it was LS, no biopsy.
I noticed recently in good light that I have the figure eight and it's on my clitoris now. No fusing that I am aware of. In fact, my clitoris hood is now loose on one side.
I use salt water too on bad days. I get a spray bottle and disinfect it with vinegar boil the water and add salt. I never know when to change it? So, I do it each day when I am using it. (I'm so scared of bacteria going there). Some are saying bicarb and borax.
I use organic coconut oil in the entrance as clearly it rubs together (I am quite dry too) and it can be painful. I also use EMU oil on occasion. I find I have to switch it about, as at times I can't tolerate one of the other. Some also say use witch hazel mixed with water.
It's strange but I read the other day that a bad relationship can cause it in a sense. (Perhaps dryness down there IDK) OR, sexual abuse when younger. (Just a thought, not a very scientific one I am sure).
I have found that using TONS of coconut oil as a lubricant help with intimate relations. I place it on me, a bit internally and a bit on him. I hope not too graphic but felt had to say as it may help you
Bless you, I'm so sorry to hear you are the same. Thank you for being so frank, it helps all of us to be as descriptive as possible. I will try the witch hazel and as for the salt water I'm pleased to hear that helps you too. I'm scared to try the borax but it does sound like it's quite effective. I forgot to mention I'm post menopausal (just about 🙄 so I also have vagifem to help with the dryness. I've been using Vaseline before we do anything which helps during but still very sore afterwards. I don't want to tell my partner as I don't want him to feel on edge but if it gets worse I know I'll have to. Interesting about the abuse idea - I read too that trauma can cause it. My ex used to just 'shove' it in, every morning when the central heating came on and woke him up! What a nightmare! I started altering the timer switch on the heating so he'd be late for work and wouldn't bother me! I even wore pads and two pair of pants for my periods - they were the longest 'periods' known to man 😂. Sad that I didn't have the guts to just get rid of him and that would have saved me all that trouble. Oh I forgot to say I also have a thyroid disorder - which may be another factor.
The only way I can describe it is, you know when you get a blister on the back of your foot and it burst, that what it looks like, last year in may I went to a VD clinic thinking I was have an herpes attack, he asked me who told me I had herpes, and that I had lichen planus, but the consultant at vulva clinic didn't think it was., before the sore splits its very red and sore, I think 2years ago I kept getting what I've got now and was treated for herpes. I don't get any periods, I'm post menopausal, I'm 59. Hope your feeling better soon xx
I now and again take photos of it, or get my husband to, then when I see any doctors or consultants at hospital I show them, when I was at the vulva clinic last November it was clear, but I had a photo of when it was not clear. I would like to say a big thank you 💐 for all the inputs, I haven't been properly diagnosed wth LS, but my symptoms are the same as many on here. xx
I'm so sorry you had to go through that. How awful, but am so happy you are happy now . I think yes the rough sex can cause it. I tell you why (or should I say unprepared sex) and I talk from experience once again. No expert of course. I think (and I am perimeno) that we do go dryer there. Not all, some have the opposite problem. So if we are dry an injury can occur. That's what happened to me. I noticed like a popped blood blister after an event. (it is the only way I can describe it).
If you can, give the coconut oil a go. I have seen many people use it as a natural lubricant, whether they are LS or not. It is simply divine. Although if you use vagifem perhaps you are not too dry? The only caution is, that condoms can break with coconut oil, but you are post so no worries!
I don't think vaseline would work for me, since it can cause thrush if pushed internally and is 'stiffer' really.
I suffered sexual trauma over different periods of my life and did so when getting this first 'sore'. So, it sounds plausible to me. Thank you for sharing the more we know the better I think.
If the salt water works stick with it I reckon.
I can't recall but maybe the witch hazel was more for itching, perhaps someone will post and comment on it.
Some have sworn by Manuka honey, but you have to buy a very good brand. (Often the most expensive is NOT the best). I can't recall but it has to contain certain things. I had been buying the super expensive one from a health store but found it was in fact useless. The one from a supermarket that cost a quarter of the price was better. Some say they slather it on at night and their skin has returned to normal.
Thank you chinney, I had the exact same at the beginning, what looked like a burst blister. Black and red. Gosh, all this time I thought only mine had started that way. Hugs to you. xx (I'm 54 and peri). My skin does not tear but feels like it could if that makes sense? The texture has changed. It's become thinner.
Morning callianne, plz excuse my ignorance what is peri plz, also last nite i put a pillow between my knees when i was in bed, that seemed to eased it during the nite, hope your ok, take care x
