I am most of the times anxious, make mountains out of mole hills, lack in confidence, miss sweet sleep. I have been taking escitalopram 10 mg and lorazepam 1 mg at night for about 7 years. My GP advises me not to discontinue as anxiety takes a toll on other health problems like gastric derangements and hypertension. But sometimes I think dependence on drugs does not always yield sweet results. Is there any alternative effective therapy other than the traditional ones I can contine for long time and at the same time those can cater good results?
I would never use the term "alternative", I always say "complementary" meaning that a therapy will run alongside the conventional treatments being received. Massage therapy or reflexology are great for this.
You are on the right track Nitu. I am a Healer and many patients come to me who are actually fed up with these medications. You are really lucky that you got this thought well in advance. As of now I would suggest you to follow your natural instincts. I have done the healing you should see lot of changes from now on. I strongly recommend to stop taking any medication
Nitu, I would not recommend coming of your medications without talking to your Doctor and tapering very slowly, if that is the path you wish to follow. I agree with Arwen, perhaps you could find some complementary treatments. I'm not very knowledgeable in this area but maybe others on this forum have some great ideas. On a personal note, I abused painkillers for three years which completely screwed up my brain chemistry which is why I chose the route of antidepressants as I didn't have the luxury of the time it would take for my brain to naturally heal instelf as I am the sole carer of a special needs child. Some people are completely against antidepresants but I am not one of those people, nor do I agree with 'alternative' treatments in medicine, they just lead to heartache. But complimentary is very different to alternative.
