I’ve always heard that gallbladder problems typically come with the 4 Fs .. fat, forty, female , fertile. Well, i wasn’t fat, i was underweight according to the BMI charts. I’ve had a hysterectomy , so not fertile. I am female and 43 . I’ve never eaten fatty foods, I’m vegetarian and I’ve never had a weight problem. I’ve also noticed that i hear about More and more teenagers and young ppl having their gallbladders removed. Makes me think if has more to do with additives in our food than anything else. I swear i could go on a starvation diet and eat nothing for a week and not lose one pound. Nothing works. Taking out the gallbladder is much worse than just living with a suppose low functioning one. It causes so many more problems having it taken out. Like, not being able to absorb nutrients and vitamins from food, gaining weight , digestive problems .. Uhg! I wish i had known what i was in for BEFORE having surgery. Drs do nothing to inform the pt of any of this and frankly , they act like we’re crazy when presented with all these issues. Yes, dr , i had surgery and immediately gained 12 lbs in the following 8 weeks. . yes, i did have a birthday during that time too .. Oh ? You say it must be that darn birthday that caused all this weight gain ! Why didn’t i think of that ?? it doesn’t have anything to do with the surgery. 🙄🙄
I have a low functioning gb intially and then had now got gallstones.not removed the gall bladder yet, but still I'm low on B12 and can't eat any friend/fatty/protein foods and lot of acid reflux, burping and bloating. So even after removing if things did not resolve for you, then something to do with the stomach...I have gastritis also where doctors say, only removing gb will come to know what is the next directions.
Sorry Tara but I think the hysterectomy had more to do
With the weight gain then the gallbladder I’m no Dr but most women I know who have had it has hained weight why I don’t know
