Hi ive been taking Sertaline for two and a half years now. I've ballooned up to a size 20 around 17 stone. I was on 200mg which apparently is the highest dose you can take according to my doctor.
Over the last few months i have managed to reduce myself slowly to 50 mg which hasnt been easy.and have now noticed that I am loosing a bit of weight. I wondered if anyone could tell me if they have experienced this to? I know the sertraline helped me to put the weight on in the first place and it defiantly doesn't help trying to loose weight while on them. I have found trying to loose weight on it very difficult. I have never certainly never struggled in the past when I wasn't on Sertaline.
Once you reduce the mg does the weight come off that easy? What ingredient causes the weight gain?
Yes many gain weight when taking Sertraline, but I for one lost weight...goes to show how everyone in different.....and yes you will lose the weight after withdrawal or while withdrawing from it..but please do it very, very slowly...Good luck
Yes do taper off them very gradually under supervision of your GP. IM currently reducing mine from 100 and did so too quickly. Got bad shaking/ anxiety and flu like symptoms. Weight gain is common. Exercise is a big help even walks. Which is something I've just started doing. It also helps with anxiety. Which is a big one for me personally.. I joined slimming world and lost alot of weight that way😊 Good luck Kazmiski123
i'm on 100mg and started some 10 weeks ago now on 50mg for the first 4 weeks and then onto 100mg after that, i started on sertraline at 13st.3lbs and i'm now at 11st 11lbs, i do excersise regularly, but for the first few weeks i didn't do anything at all and still lost weight......not even thinking about coming off them yet, sertraline has been my life line on some days, still had bad down days but the better days have been much better than they used to be :-)
