I have been struggling with a really swollen, tender lump on the front of my kneecap after doing a lot of DIY on the floors at home. It is getting to the point where even having trousers touch the skin feels uncomfortable, and kneeling down is completely out of the question. I have tried resting it and using ice packs when I remember, but the swelling just does not seem to want to budge. For those of you who have dealt with prepatellar bursitis, how long did it take for that fluid to actually go down? I am curious if you found that specific supports or certain types of kneeling pads made a difference once you started getting active again. If you are worried about the pain or if it looks red, please do have a chat with your pharmacist or GP.
Hi, I too suffered a lot with housemaid knee but x-rays didn’t show anything . A consultant recommended I didn’t have explorative surgery when I was in my mid 40’s and so glad he did. My symptoms only showed after doing DIY, laying tiles etc but I started to use knee pads and if I’m on my knees for any reason I always used padding. And now at 77, my knees are still good and walk 6000 steps everyday and a weekly slightly hill walk of 6 Kms.
Hope your condition improves.
