What can i use other than medical tape to keep gauze under belly (waist)?

Hi, I have sores that are taking a long time to heal and stop bleeding under my belly flap, waist area. I am trying to lose some weight, but in the mean time, I have been putting a 10 x 10 gauze pad under my belly area and securing with medical tape. It’s only been a few days doing this, but already, my skin is going very red and feeling like it’s slightly weeping, where i am taking the tape off.

I wondered if there might be anything else I can do to keep it on?

It would probably stay put anyway because of where it is, and then my trousers etc would also be around it, I’ve not tried doing that but i don’t want it to just fall off or move that freely where it may then not be covering the sore.

It does appear like it’s only above my belly where i am getting this redness, so it might be that my trousers are pulling the tape a bit so causing it to be sore maybe.

Has anyone got any advice please?

Many thanks

Instead of using tape or gauze have you tried using medical powders? Like gold bond to keep the area dry?? The More the area stays moist the more you are likely to become irritated..The powder will keep the area dry and will stop sores or redness.. Don’t use powders if u have open sores.. when u shower dry off really good and take a hair dryer and put it on low cool/warm air to help dry the area under your stomach just don’t hold dryer directly on stomach..If u are dry completely and no open sores apply medicated powders under your stomach and don’t cover with gauze or anything.. you’ll see a difference in your skin and feel better too..at each shower or bath clean powders off your skin and reapply powders after each shower or bath after u are completely dry..best of luck hopefully this helps u..
