Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition1 - which means it affects the brain - that causes a person to make sounds and movements that they cannot control. These are called tics. Currently, there is no cure for Tourette's syndrome, but treatment can help manage the symptoms. Often, the symptoms develop in childhood or adolescence and sometimes they disappear over time.
