I am 63 years male. divorced. Depressed and cannot sleep. GP prescribes Mirtazapine and Amytriptiline,antidepressants. They do not seem to help. Any suggestions please?

I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. How long have you been taking the antidepressants? It can take quite a while to get the full effect from them.
If you've been on them for longer than a month I'd go back to your GP and ask to try something different. It can take a few goes to find the right antidepressant for you.
