Hey ladies i hope you are all well today.

does any of you have a whoosing sound in one ear. in the beginning it was a ringing sound and now it is whoosing.

have a loveley day

thanks

nonnie

Hi Nonnie, yes I've had that. Sometimes ringing , sometimes whooshing. Most peculiar. Xx

Hi Nonnie, yes I have had it too, like Mooma, it was sometimes a whooshing and other times ringing, now it seems to be like a thumping and its all only in my right ear..Hope you have a great day...xx

That would be me...I thought it was tinnitus but it comes and goes...what a nuisance!

do anyone knows what is the cause of it or is it just one of our many treats for the day.

HI Nonnie

yes... Well.... its hard  to explain, i have one ear ( well i have two) 😀 but just my left one plays me up, its like a dull earache ... Like it could pop, a pressure pain. always like it ..

i have used otocerum drops about two months ago in each ear, and was amazed how they cleared ie: wax came out

infact last night i remembered to put drops in the left ear only incase there is more lodged. ' i am sure there is '

( sorry sounds gross - but waxy ears also cause problems)

also that side my ear hurts is the side the teeth are more sensitive - teeth have been checked and xrayed and all is fine 😧

Hi Nonnie

ears can be a peri and meno symptom by the way ..

Tinnitus: ringing in ears, bells, 'whooshing,' buzzing etc.

The inner ear is fluid filled and this can move around, not sure why. this condition is called Pulsatile Tinnitus

Called Pulsatile Tinnitus and all tinnitus can come and go

Pulsatile tinnitus is where you hear rhythmical noises that often beat in time with your pulse.

It's usually caused either by:

blood flow changes in the blood vessels near your ear

increased awareness of the blood flow near your ears

The blood flow through an artery can sometimes become restricted by a build-up of fatty deposits (plaques) on the inside wall of the artery.

This is known as atherosclerosis and causes the artery to narrow. The narrowed artery prevents blood from flowing smoothly, resulting in it becoming 'noisy'.

If you have impaired hearing or a hearing condition such as a perforated eardrum, your awareness of sounds that come from inside your body, such as your blood flow, may be increased.

This is because your hearing becomes more sensitive and internal noises aren't drowned out by external sounds.

Thanks

Hi, I was getting a whoosing sound but seemed I noticed it once I laid down to sleep (shoosh shoosh shoosh very rythmic) and it would drive me crazy! Went to doctor but she saw nothing abnormal. Fortunately, this is one of the symptoms I had that seems to have subsided since I started on iron supplements (also taking B complex). Something to consider.

Hi Mary

thanks for sharing ..

we all take the B6 and B12 or B complex... apart from the ladies with IBS as they cannot..

i swear by B Vits ... lucky i can tolerate them .. B6 is the most  essential in menopause and B12 ... a good mega B complex should have at least 100mg of B6 in it ...

iron is okay in small doses, but damaging if not required..

i take the kelp supplement again now , iron bucked me up a few months agai, but i took it with caution and went back to my iodine of kelp that is also good for thyroid health too

it is also in my left ear and it started the same time as peri. but it is worse when i am anxious.

Hi Nonnie

weird isnt it..

mines like pressure in it, no hissing or whoosing or ringing ..

just feels like abit of pressure.. even when i do the hold nose and blow to clear it ( like pilots do ) its quite safe ..

it clears abit but still full of pressure ...

its not infected or sore... just a niggle .. 😞

As a long term tinnitus sufferer Nonnie, that whooshing can be tinnitus, look it up, you get lots of different noises, that's one.

Go on tinnitus site on here https://patient.info/forums/discuss/browse/tinnitus-2259 or Tinnitustalk.com that's an informative site solely dealing with tinnitus. Got 3 Drs with Tinnitus on the site. go check it out.

Mine drives me nuts, up and down B.......y hissing, Go get ENT check it out, your get hearing test done, I've had 3 over the past 8 years, got maskers last  Oct/Nov, just go check it out. Maybe something maybe nothing ears are funny things not to ignore.xxxx

Ita called the Valsalva maneuver.

Take a deep breath, hold your mouth closed, plug your nose closed, and force air up the Eustachian tubes by blowing.

You will feel a pop if the technique works.

However, be sure not to blow too forcibly or you could damage your ears.

its a must after flying ... clears the discomfort pressure straight away

This is called tinnitus. If it is one sided, or associated with problems of balance you must see your doctor soon.

That movement can lead to further probs, few on the site I mentioned earlier to Nonnie didn't recommend it,so I've never done it..It's an awkward condition to treat, with no cure out there,,I'd try Steam inhalation,or put warm cloth to the ear,see if that helps first. Some say Epley manoeuvre ,but needs to be done by someone trained in doing this,I never put drops in ears,or olive oil ,another that can give you more trouble, than from where you began.

That being my input, you sound chirpy today Jay.im a bit jaded today ,Gyne jaded day I call it.It will pass off hopefully as day goes on no doubt, better had.Trying to decide what's on my menu today. You okay after your rice pud.xx

Hi Marlene

no i dont suggest people do the Valsalva manoeuvre for tinnitus

no no... only for pressure like when you get off a plane..

all i have is pressure.. not ringing etc..

me i tend to be chirpy most days... not often i get a blip lately ..

the niggles i can deal with ...

yes ... i am fine after the rice pud ( thank goodness ) the pro biotic i take has made such a difference to me .. its the recommneded one for digestve probs.. just the Acidophilus 3 billion ...

i take it on its own as soon as I get up with a glass of water ... and its working wonders, normally my stomach is well bad in the morning..

so all good so far, seems to suit me..

the Vit E seems to suit too... all good

sorry your feeling abit crook 😥

the tiny bit of Ovestin ' Estriol' cream  i use every 4 days ( half measure and only every 4 days for the short term ) has made a huge difference too .
