My son has been prescribed Lamotrigine 25mgs daily to help with mood swings - has anyone else had experiences with this drug? There are quite a few worrying side effects that really bother me which is why I'm reaching out to you all................Any comments please???
Hi Linda, I take this drug generic is lamectal or the other way around. It has been a life saver for me as well as the people I know that take this drug. I have anxiety that was so bad that my dr. convinced me to take it with the zoloft. It is fabulous for mood swings. My Dr. said those side effects i.e. the rash happens in 1 out of I believe it was 300,000 people. This particular drugs seems to work for people with depression anxiety as well as bipolar disorder. Don't worry Linda from what I understand with the friends of mine who are Drs. this drug in actuality has the least amount of realized side effects than most anit depressants. I think u will be presently surprised. I have been taking it for 5 years approx. with 0 side effects, And I seem to get side effects real or imagined from many drugs. I hate drugs but this has been a game changer. Good luck if u have any questions feel free to respond.
Oh Kathy thank you so much for your reply - you have made me feel so much better about my son taking this drug Joe was diagnosed bipolar last year & the doctors have struggled to control his mood swings! He's currently taking Escitalopram 20mgs daily but because of his moods they have prescribed this other drug..............I was alarmed when I read the side effects! He's also on Zopiclone to help him sleep at night! He's only 24 but has been through some tough times!

Hi Linda, I am so glad this helped. I understand the heart of a mother. My son is 40 and he had a massive ruptured brain anuerism that had been growing since he was a little boy.He survived very well the 9 hour surgery thank the good lord and lots of prayers. Prior to his anuerism I worried constantly about his, what I thought was adhd and lack of followthrough and time management problems, I worried myself sick and I have anxiety and as it turned out it was the anuerism causing the mimicking of adhd. Anyway my point Linda is I am a freak about worring about a child no matter how old they are. Just look forward to the benifits of this drug I bet it will work very well for him. I will be praying for u and ur son.This drug has been a lifchanger for so many people Good luck Linda
