I'm sorry if this post is a bit odd, but I just need to get this off my chest.
I suffer from health anxiety and have pretty much my entire life. For the last few months I've been experiencing mental/cognitive decline and recently started developing new and worsening sleep maintenance insomnia. At first when I woke up varied but now it's almost always 3:40 AM. After a few panic attacks I went to my doctor and was given venlafaxine to help alleviate my symptoms. They helped with my sleep problems and anxiety for a few days, but have recently started to wear off and the insomnia (and panic attacks) have begun once again. I'm worried sick, constantly stressed that it may be something like cancer or some other rarer disease. I don't have a family history of insomnia and my sleep apnea test came back negative.
Please, if anyone out there has any advice for me, please let me hear it.
My days of going to Dr. Google are really starting to come back to bite me.
Hi cameron im sorry youre going through this ordeal . I pray you overcome this soon ,in the meantime , your subconscious will not let you relax enough to sleep well . When you go to bed , your mind is set on having a panic attack , your inner alarm clock is set at a certain time frame . All due to anxiety . The brain chemical to relax and sleep is melatonin , its natural supplements , get you some and take it at night before bed .
I’ve ben on anti axiety meds, well my new doctor wants me to go off them,I slept well, mild anxiety etc, anyway as for you maybe try benedril,it may help you sleep. Anxiety stinks and unless you know how it feels, most don’t get it. good luck.
I also agree I think I read 10 MG of melatonin, but thats probably what I read to curb withdrawal.
definitely try some melatonin. i had the same problem as ur having and i tried melatonin. works wonders for u and u dont even need that much. 3 to 5mgs is all i need to sleep all night and im 6 ft 3 and 280 lbs. hope this helps and u start feeling better soon. god bless…also look up panic away on youtube, also helped me out alot
hi cameron - insomnia and panic attacks are rareky signs of physical illness - they are from anxiety and depression. how long have you been on the venlaxafine? it takes weeks to work not days and insomnia and panic attacks are common side effects in the early weeks of taking it
may as well give it a go but ive been told that it only really works for older people and that if you are on antideoressants you are unlikely to be low in melatonin
I got some 3 milligram melatonin last night. It seemed to help me sleep a bit better. Anxiety is still sky high though. I have an appointment with my PCP next week. Here’s hoping that calms me down. Thanks for the recommendation.
